Use Nicotine gum. Getting some kind of oral fixation at the same time as you get your fix seems to work, better than, say, using patches or any of the other ways.

Even if all you do is smoke fewer cigarettes while using the gum, you'll have made progress.

Baby steps. Whatever you do, don't quit cold turkey. That's proven scientifically to be the least effective means.
