I get on a cardio machine and raise my heart rate over 180 then back down under 150 three times before I start lifting weights.

That's basically just interval training. It's a valid cardio strategy.

do not static stretch before or after lifting.

static stretching is for increasing flexibility (tendon creep), which is a good thing that you need (i.e. hamstring flexibility for squatting lower), but not around exercise. you're not going to get more flexible 20 minutes before you lift.

static stretching before lifting FACTUALLY weakens that muscle.
static stretching after lifting is more likely to result in tearing the muscle, which is now spongy and full of blood.
static stretching before any exercise has no evidence of reducing injury rates.

what you want are DYNAMIC stretches. leg swings, arm swings, fire hydrants. these open up tight joints and warm up the muscles that stabilize them.

Before doing heavy weight I always always always take three slow deep breaths then on the third I lift also when I'm lifting I look into my own eyes in the mirror, Ion't look anywhere else but on myself and when theres no mirror for me to look at myself in I'll look at whatever muscle group i'm working
