Hey Fit
IF is working well my cals and weight is down already and I feel more cut. But i cant seem to get all the cals in that I used to be able to. I need 2100 cals and im getting in around 18 1700, Is this bad? should i prioritize 1g/lb protien and fats and not worry about it or should i be hitting 2100 everytime to preserve muscle
Wow im interested in this thread and not samefag

Im worried im loosing too much at a time like too high a deficit, will that kill muscle?

If you have a very high deficit for a long time it will kill muscle, dont worry too much muslce is hard to break down.
If you start noticing a lot of strength loss try to eat more.
Also peanut butter is your friend if you need more kcal, get a 100% peanuts butter its the best thing on this planet.
Can I work out while in a fasted state?
Why or why not?

Depends if you're cutting yes cardio " British Journal of Nutrition, men who ran before eating breakfast burned up to 20 percent more fat than those who fueled up before their run." so you can burn more calories fasted.
However; “When glycogen is in short supply, your body also reverts to breaking down protein — your muscles’ building blocks — for fuel,” -Kelly Pritchett, Ph.D., R.D., a board-certified specialist in sports dietetics and an assistant professor in nutrition and exercise science at Central Washington University
My opinion is that if you're looking to lean out or cut fat then fasted exercise is good in the morning for the increase caloric burn, however if you're bulking for strength or with a lack of focus on bf% consider working out with a good amount of glycogen storage or "feast" state.

forgot to mention that in the case of lifting even if you are cutting the article also mentions " If you’re heading out on a long run, but haven’t eaten any carbs, your body might start burning protein within a couple of hours." this is by the same R.D. so make sure you eat after the gym.
