My dad was always thin and fit and did heavy physical labour, until he had a knee injury playing tennis. Then he started eating badly and gained a lot of weight. That being said, if people are turning her away because she's fat because they assume that she's going to be lazy then they are unfairly discriminating against her. If you grow up as a child with unlimited fridge and soda access you will most likely get fat. If your parents plan your meals out for you, you won't have access weight.

Sure it does. If you are spending your entire life on couch eating junk food, you might need to change your entire lifestyle.

But for most, simple changes like being aware of how much calories you eat and controlling that are enough. You eat pre-made or/and out? Even easier, most of pre-made foods and fast food meals have calories listed. Add a bit of excercise to that and that's literally all.
