Ditto. Crystallography here. No complaints other than it being boring as hell.
>>
>>37867363
Unless you're trying to get into federal Corrections you don't need a degree for almost every state DOC in the US. It's pretty much an entry level job. If you're looking to enter the field go to your state's Department of Corrections website and find out how to apply.
>>
>>37867402

University professor. I'm lucky to be working in a country where SJW shit hasn't caught on, or I'd be out of this field and into diet selling/fitness coaching in a hot minute. Probably will do that anyway once I reach retirement age.

>don't correct muh language, it's a micro aggression!
>>
>>37867425
Depends. I would say a year or 2-3 years of corrections experience looks pretty good on a resume if you're trying to get into law enforcement but there's not really any actual way to "get your foot in the door" with LE via corrections. The only reason I'm here is to build a resume. It also helps if you can get onto your Department's CERT team (riot control/institutional disturbance goon squad), that looks pretty good on a LE resume.

Subway sandwich artist. And shitty pizza place fry cook.

On my way to managing one of them soon and quitting the other. Subway will pay less but will be more procedural so I think will be the better experience. The pizza place would pay a lot more, but the boss is a jerk so being the manager and being accountable for stuff could be a nightmare - I hate being micromanaged as it is, and he's the type that will be pushing me to go lighter on this week because he sniffed too much cocaine to buy supplies. But I guess it's the same in most restaurants.

I've been doing jogging and calisthenics on top of just working a lot. I definitely feel more capable at work since I've started the calisthenics. Gym membership v soon...

I work on a ferry, I autopilot it between ports for 20 minutes, put it into manual and then take it in, stuff as many cars as we can in and go.

Pay is decent, about 5000 USD/month, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. 12 hour day when at work.

Also need to do maintenance shit, but it's alright. There's around 4-5 other guys onboard aswell so we spend most of the time talking on the bridge inbetween ports, cooking food and stuff.

MSc in Engineering Mathematics.

Currently I work on a product idea. Unfortunately the idea isn't 100% fresh and there are potentially a few already filed patents in my way. Really unsure if I should work on it it any further. I also dream a bit on living from art alone as the engineering part of my job begins to suck out my soul.

as in, what did I do in highschool? Nothing ultimately userful. Just took bio courses, then started with CS courses when I didn't want to go to med school any more. Kept taking both, cold-emailed professors for research positions.

Ultimately I got hired by a company that recruits heavily from my school and now I don't really utilize my education much, aside from the programming side.

I've been there 3 years and it's in a convenience store so it's really a shit job but I still want to be moved up so badly. I thought I was in line for it but I got cucked by a new guy that just got hired on with 16 years experience. But I am now being trained for paperwork, and my boss says she can have 2 assistants, so it's not a total carrot on a stick, I hope.

Subway really is comfy and I can see why so many people are content working for the company for so long even though the pay and benefits aren't good. It's not hard but it's just challenging enough, and making good sandwiches is fun.

>subway sandwiches
>good
yep, with fresh bread and proper technique, plus knowing how to tell the person across the counter exactly what you want, it's quite good

Majored in biology, but went into dentistry. I'm currently in my third year of school. It's actually a lot more fun than people think, it's a combination of medicine, materials science, customer service (dentists typically have to be a lot more likable than those in other med professions), and art. When I'm preparing teeth I'm using a handpiece (drill) operating at 200,000 rpm, cutting teeth with a precision within tenths of a millimeter. Anyway, I'll move out into the real world in a little under two years.
