I haven't gotten a proper depth check in a while, so I did today. pretty happy with this tBh, I am doing some different cuing and I think it is working really well both for keeping my knees out and my back from rounding, so that's cool.

I know the weight isn't a very high %, but whatever, these felt pretty low RPE so I'm happy with them

You're focusing WAAAAYYY too much on the sit back cue, whoever is coaching you is doing you wrong.
I lowbar with the exact same movement i highbar with--the bar positioning itself ensures my hips sit back, i don't have to cue it deliberately. The concentric is a bit different, but descending into the hole is literally the same. Try that.

Nah, watch his knees. They hit the end ROM for his ankles really quick, hes got them long thighbones.

Alex if youre here, I highly recommend squat shoes. It may help with the upper back rounding as well. Sometimes the back rounds to keep the bar over midfoot if youre lacking mobility at the hip or ankle.

To get stronger, you need to do more volume over time.

How much should tonnage increase to spur progress on a weekly basis for intermediate/novice lifter? Say my tonnage for squats are 3000 on day 1 and 3500 on day two for a combined 6500. How much should that tonnage increase on weeky/monthly basis to continue progress? Maybe a set percentage?

I'm kind of the opposite. I have a lot of gymbros who I squat bench and deadlift with.

That kissing part tho - there's a guy I'd love to do that with. Too bad I can't :/

I wasn't joking though :(
>>
>>37807031
I do when my brother has a different work sched than I.

It gets annoying for bench though. For some inexplicable reason it feels silly finding a spotter, but I need one in order to not lose 80% of my tightness getting the bar unracked.
>>
>>37807205
Yeah I get that, Im fairly sure my lower bench is because of the fact that lifting off without a spotter just loses me half of my arch and tightness
>>
>>37807166
Good bodybuilding is just good endocrinology, I cant really admire it. I respect the sacrifice you gotta make, but I just dont admire it in any way. I dont 'look up to' any BBs.

Lifters though? Powerlifter and especially Olypic lifters I greatly admire. Oly lifters more so than PLers just because of the skill required let alone the strength, I find PL much more enjoyable to train though.

Not as effectively as you can get tight before the unrack. Settling the bar and repositioning yourself helps but there's a limit to what it can accomplish.

WHY ARE YOU HERE?
>>
>>37807314

How much it helps varies. If you're lucky enough to have a good rack height where you can basically do a straight-arm pulldown to get the bar into position, it doesn't help much. If you've got super deep hooks or they're at a bad height and you need to press it out of the rack then a handoff helps more.

42KB, 300x303px
>>37806045

Let me guess, this is you >>37806469
>>
>>37807346
I have to press the bar maybe an inch or two to get it out of the rack. But I don't think that really effects my lift that much - my triceps aren't my weak point in my bench, I'm pretty sure it's my delts. My sticking point is pretty much halfway through the rep.
>>
>>37807333
?

Implying Spoto and coan aren't part of the goat tier?
>>
>>37807370
hi trappy chan can you tell sean to stop impersonating me
>>
>>37807374

Its not about the triceps being a weak point, its more about the movement required to press it out of the rack having a tendency to fuck with tightness and scapula positioning. Its effectively the same thing as overextending at the top of a rep and letting your shoulderblades start to come forward.

Usually its not a big deal except on very high % attempts unless someone is stuck with a really bad unrack height.
>>
>>37807374
If it was delts your stciking point would be lifting off your chest or the first inch or two, thats the weakest position for them.

The sticking point in the middle is just were the pec is weakest. Not to say your chest is weak in comparison to your triceps or delts, just too weak for the lift.
>>
>>37807376
neither of them are powerlifters
>>
>>37807413
ah okay thanks dude. I've done max attempts and mine is pretty fine. I'll try having a guy unrack it for me on my 2pl8 attempt coming up soon

>>37807416
really? I heard getting it off your chest was the main chest activation, middle was delts, and top part was triceps. It's not directly middle - i'd say lower middle. Plus my OHP is pretty weak compared to my bench, so I'd assumed a delt weakness
>>

This isn't just you, this is to the influx of weaklings /plg/ has had of late.

-Stop posting named or as a trip unless you're going to contribute actual meaningful shit that someone would actually want to keep track of ie meet videos, lifting webms
- Stop orbiting Trappy and posting about your/her/xir sexuality/trip drama of any kind
-Stop responding to Sean/troll characters ever under any circumstances PERIOD
- Stop mentioning that you're 140lbs like it's even remotely hard to bulk at such an incredibly light bw if you have even a shred of legitimate desire to get stronger or bigger

Do these things consistently and the general will improve considerably.

Hey so since not much is going on Im gonna talk long term training strategy and you guys can criticize.

Recently strained my QL pretty bad failing a 260x5 squat on my SS-ish routine. My hips shot up and I couldnt get upright, and fucked myself dropping the bar forward. Today, ten days later, I tried squatting again and even a single at 185 makes it feel funky. This has completely turned me off from constant work in the rpe9-10 range. Once I heal up Im not gonna be compromising form for muh progression. I feel like the strong focus on soley low-bar and in the 3x5 scheme isnt really great for my long term development either.

My plan is for the next few months, or as long as I can reasonably sustain it, is really high frequency, high volume, and a lot of variety. Im using pic related as a general guide, but ultimately Im going to be doing as many (potentially useful) varitions on the main lifts as I can think of, and maybe higher volume periods (with deload weeks if lifts start going down unexpectedly).

>High bar, front Squat, pauses, 1/2 squats from pins
>Deadlift to knees, paused deadlift, hack squats, JEFFERSON DEADLIFT, rack pulls
>Close grip, spoto press, long pause, touch and go, widest grip, incline

And do all this while finally incorporating LISS so I dont take fucking 15 minutes to be ready for my next set (its gotten out of hand).

The idea behind all this is to build a better "base" of General Physical Preparednessâ„¢, be more comfortable throughout the whole movement in the main lifts, and really just have fun lifting again.

Thoughts?

(Stats in freedom units: 6'3" 205lb, 260/190/335 for a 3x5 was what I was at when I done snapped my shit)
>>
>>37807764
Fyi I've just added you to my filter.

You are trash. Which is fine! There's nothing wrong with being genetic detritus, many of us are.

What I do have an issue with is your ego. That filled in name field screams "I'm note worthy, remember me!". Being egotistical is barely forgivable in someone like Josh hancott (someone who's lifting is extremely impressive) but in a rank novice it's unbearable. So why do you persist?
>>
>>37807777
Lucky 7s it must be a good plan
>>
>>37807764
>I can stop responding to sean
Good. Keep that up. Having a trip so people can know your shit and have a meaningful conversation about training thread to thread is one thing, having a trip so that meaningless chatter about X is more personally satisfying for you is another. Get a blender and have PB, banana, oats and milk in a shake twice a day on top of meals and bulking will be a lot easier than trying to cram in solids all day.
>>
>>37807767
>stimulant
>ban already up
Let it go. Ilya passed clean for ten years, yet look what happened on retests.
>>
>>37807777

Word of warning - be careful which lifts you select for a program like this. As fun as all the variety can be, some of them can react really badly to being used for heavy singles. Especially if you're not used to performing them.
>>
>>37807789
>implying I care

but in all honesty, I feel like posting with a name 4chan, so I will. If that bothers you, then by all means, filter me! It's all good
>>
>>37807816
What should I be weary of? This upcoming month of bench specialist is gonna suck, I dont wanna snap my shit up again please
>>
>>37807825

Anything with asymmetric loading is something to be wary of, also anything with a particularly extreme stance or grip can be an issue. But it is kind of individual - some people just tolerate certain movements better than others.

I mean, usually you'll figure out when working up if something is gonna be an issue but its something to keep an eye out for, especially when you're working at relatively high percentages every session.

Right. Enough whining. You know how strong trips started out? Weak. The strongest in here shouldn't be complaining about the weak ones, they should be kicking their asses and making sure they're doing it right. All it will become is a circle jerk or a whinge fest.

LETS MAKE PLG GREAT AGAIN
>>
>>37808193
Are you going to be lifting the car?
>>
>>37808214
While I agree with you, there's not point trying to convince them.

This general is way too focused on maintaining their idea of 'superior lifting' and anyone who threatens to compromise that idea isn't accepted.

People like Isley and sean belong on reddit where you can vote on posts to hide them. The beauty of this site is that everyone gets a voice and all voices are equal, the fact that half this general wants to get rid of that is pretty hilarious imo. They cant go to a different site though because they'll just get rejected because deep inside (and on the surface), they're just narcissists and came here because no one else would accept them.
>>
Doing TSA intermediate, really enjoying it apart from squats...
My 5x5 sessions are ok (managed to get the last one with an RPE of 9001) but I've failed my last two 4x7 sessions - I got a set of 7 and a set of 6 then had to lower the weight significantly for more volume.
I know I've always been shit at high rep stuff on every program I've been. So next time I run the program should I just lower my input max by a few % or just lower my high rep stuff by a few %, or both?

wat do

But powerlifting is about aiming to be strong, it is about aiming to be superior on the platform. Competition is all part of it. I don't mind narcissism as long as it is backed up with enough humility to support others even if they're weak.

>>37807777
>really high frequency,
If we have the same perception of "really high frequency", please don't jump right into it. Work up to it slowly. Now you've been doing 3x/week (I assume since you said SS-like), so I suggest you do two A workouts and two B workouts per week until you're used to the program before you start slowly increasing frequency. Increase frequency by alternately adding a workout of A or B every 1-3 months, depending on how you feel.

Get good habits regarding prehab/flexibility/mobility.

>hack squat
>jefferson deadlift
Probably not gonna be worth your effort.
>rack pulls
Block pulls are better.
Other deadlift variants are deficits and snatch-grip, which imho are better than hack and jefferson.

Feet up benching is great (e.g. Larsen press).

>>37809167
An important aspect of the off-season is to minimize risk of overuse injuries. Doing variations helps a lot with this, so does low specificity training (i.e. bodybuilding-style).

Ultra-specificity outside of peaking is most likely a mistake, imho.
Variations of the lifts are still very specific -- you're still doing the lift, there are no drastic changes in the execution (compard to switching squats with isolation exercises), and doing variations may help with learning the motor pattern. And doing variations doesn't mean you won't be doing any actual lift practice. The off-season should be designed according to your needs, after all.

The only time this is a problem is when that weaklifts spammer posts

He has software to spam the thread so that's annoying

But that rarely happens. It's never anywhere near as extreme
>>
>>37809234
Yeah this makes an awful lot of sense, as much as I don't have experience with it. Is this how Dietmar's programming looks as well (if there is some off season one), seeing as you read into them.

Hm, I'll do my current "lol wat season" retardation until my meet in nov because if I don't hit 400 Wilks soon I'll prob off myself, but going to go and ask some knowledgeable people about what to do after. Else I know I'll end up going hyper specific again.
>>
>>37809211
Coincided

Technique was reinforced. The front squats helped thoracic extension in the squat and dead and tightness in the bench

The pause squats and pin squats helped starting strength in the deadlift and positioning in the hole and staying tight

Weak points were addressed and a positive outcome was achieved
>>
>>37809270
>Is this how Dietmar's programming looks as well
In the programs I've posted, you'll see the competition lift performed 1/3 times and variations 2/3.
As far as I can tell, the 6x/week programs are more customized for the lifters, both with regard to exercise selection and loading. Lifters' tolerance for frequency and specificity varies. One of the programs I've seen have competition squats 3/6 times, competition deadlift 1/6, and competition bench 2/6 (have only seen the first week), and I know a guy who had to drop from deadlifts/variations 5x to 3x (IIRC) as he got stronger.
>>
>>37809350
>>37809234
I believe this is a non issue

I train 3x a week, highly specific, squat, bench and deadlift every time.
I don't believe in over use injuries with such low frequency,

I don't believe accessorie lifts prevent over use injuries, how can doing more prevent over use?

I don't believe it one bit in this context, disregarding programs like squatting every day which most people don't seem to do
>>
>>37809286
cool, definitely going to try an incorporate a real off season, always done specific training and followed the "dont change whats working" approach but i could really use some of these weakpoint fixes now (not to mention joint healing)
>>37809350
suppose individualizing is a key point here, man wish there were more dietmar and sheiko templates out there to spring some ideas
>>
>>37809385
>I don't believe in over use injuries with such low frequency,

Eventually, either of the following will happen:
>A
Your volume will have to become so high to stimulate growth that sessions will potentially become injurious.

or
>B
Your intensity will grow to the point that you can't recover between sessions, which could become injurious.

Not to mention that hyper-specific powerlifting training will leave you with some muscles lagging behind, only to rear their ugly heads when there becomes a serious imbalance or injury (ex: lats/general upper back strength lacking, resulting in shoulder/chest imbalance/injury).

Variations can benefit the CNS and they can rest your brain, as well.

Furry Greg does a decent video.

Do you NEED variations? Maybe not. If you don't, though, you are probably the .01%
>>
>>37809385
I said "minimize risk of", not "prevent". Buda answered the rest pretty good.
>>37809413
I think you will learn to modify them to yourself eventually. Sheiko has written about the general principles, hasn't he? And you can get a lot of principles from the Frequency Project stuff out there, e.g. Iraki Nutrition's talk with Kirketeig and Menno Henselmanns talk with Nippard.
>>
>>37809438
You've misunderstood, im not saying to do only squat, bench and deadlift. I don't believe in such infrequent training.

I don't like programs that you training a lift like once a week and the majority of training being accessories work.

Do you rows and what not, that's not what I'm saying, but what I am saying is that the focus of your training should reflect on your goals.
A lot of people don't train for their goals.

With low freq training you don't get efficient at the lift. You just don't. It's like trying to practise your chess skills by playing checkers.

By the time you're stronger enough to need insane volume for stimulation you can make your own opinions on training.

But it seems to work well for Phillip still (sheikh)
>>
>>37809472
You're probably right, just know my ego is a bit too big for me to be a smart programmer so prefer to use others work when possible. I mean I have the general ideas down more or less but putting it into specific numbers is a different beast, think I'd want to know more about what goes on in a microcycle and how it ties in to the bigger picture else it just feels like arbitrary choices

Not seen those freq project talks

i'll take a look at them, thanks

If you're doing seegerko you need to be bulking fyi

>my working weight on my new routine is almost up to my max weight for reps
>[internal sweating]

Squats 115.5kg, 3-6 reps for 2 sets (5 rep max of 117.5kg)
Paused Bench 73kg, 3-6 reps for 3 sets (5 rep paused max of 72.5kg) will probs only go for sets of 4
Sumo Deadlift 145kg, 3-6 reps for 1 set (5 rep max is 145kg)
OHP 51kg 3-6 reps for 2 sets (5 rep max is 52kg)
Curls @20kg, 7 sets of 10
Hanging leg raises 5x7

Also, i've started doing mixed grip on the dead-lift for my heaviest set, switching sides half way though. i definitely prefer the right arm supinated though.

Well I don't believe in any injury, or sickness, and that's why I'll never die.

I am. Been bulking for up to 2 years now.

>the focus of your training should reflect on your goals.
Yes, and is your goal to maximise strength and longevity while minimizing risk of injury, or is it to get as strong as possible as fast as possible? If it is the former, you will most likely benefit from not being ultra-specific all the time. If it is the latter, you're thinking short-term and you'll most likely be able to keep it up short-term.

You can have high frequency training (>4-5x/week), and most people will find that using variations helps them achieve the frequency they want. For example, a front squat is less of a systemic stress than LB squat and it allows you to squat more often while also having advantages such as back strength in the deadlift. It's individual how often you can handle the competition lift, and variations help you work around that.

>>37809517
I see what you're saying, and think you're doing good in using others' work. Just don't forget to customize a little according to what you know works and doesn't work for you, regarding smaller things such as exercise selection and intensity relative to your strength in the lifts.
>>
At what point can you justify a cut?

I have been bulking 6 months, started at 90kg and im currently 103kg

My plan is to continue till i reach 280kg DL, 140kg Bench, 200 kg Sqaut and 100kg OHP.

Having to purchase new boxers because my quads are getting to big and fat.

kys I have nothing against tripfags but stop pretending you're better than anyone here just because you lift more than some other people.

We all have the same goal, to get stronger, and that should be all that matters.
