Powerlifting isn't a great spectator sport unless you're in the meet, or have a friend in the meet.

Also (repeating because I'm proud), I was paying more attention to a fried of mine who hit 2044 in wraps at 220 in the Chicago Expo. Also, it's worth mentioning, he's 36 years old, and a great father to his many children.

Given, he's clearly not "natty", but I found it very entertaining, nonetheless.

Sometimes. For some people, the bench-press responds to more bodybuilder style training (high reps, low specificity, etc.), possibly because of the high recovery rate of the muscles? Who knows :(

Whereas the squat seems to like high-specificity and frequency of competition movement.

Hopefully CERN figures it out for us in the near future.

The doctors in my country are VERY reluctant to put anyone on trt. I have multiple symptoms, very low energy being one of them, with the blood work to go with it. I've talked to two doctors about this, both of whom told me there was nothing to worry about even though it was the lowest it could possibly be while still being within a normal range and that trt would be completely unnecessary(going to a fertility clinic in August though, where I'll probably will be taken a little more serious). Doctors in almost any other country are supposedly way less reluctant though, so I would just get some blood work and ask.

IMO, a good way to add volume is to try a singles-only progression. You reset each rep, which improves the lift skill. When you're doing multi-rep sets, you have to be careful not to let form degrade to a point to where the lift isn't effective anymore.

Regardless, more volume is the answer. An RDL or SLDL day is good for lighter hypertrophy, then try using the table attached to program more volume.

Ex: 2-day routine, plus a LIGHT day of RDL or SLDL with traditional sets/reps.

Yeah, multi-rep sets are necessary for growth, metabolic stress, etc.

The singles are super-specific, though. I think singles-programming has a good place in training if you need to be careful about not over-training.

I have invented a new form of power lifting that I have named "Jerklifting".

The events will consist of three primary lifts, which are:
Max curl
Max squat tossed over the head
Squat for twenty reps

I'll give an overview of the event in a few posts, this post will detail the "Max curl" event.

Details and Setup: Three attempts are given. A 30lb EZ curl bar will be used, the bar will be loaded using Olympic style bumper discs, and placed two and a half meters away from a wall.

Execution: The competitor will pick the curl bar up from the floor, and walk backwards towards the wall, where they will then place there upper back and buttocks on the wall. The arms must be lax, full extended, with the bar resting on their thighs. Once they are given the signal, they will curl the weight to full flexion, and then lower it once the signal is given (style points are given for a slow descent). After this, the curler can simply lower the weight to the floor or even drop it. Style points may also be given if the bar makes a very loud sound or bounces very high. The lift must be in compliance with judging rules. See below.

Judging: Buttocks and upper back must be in contact with the wall, as well as triceps/elbows. Curler must reach full flexion, and the down signal will only be given until they reach full flexion. Style points for lowering the weight under control will be given at the judges discretion, as well as for "coolness" in dropping the bar. Style points are then used to inflate the competitor's total. After the lift, the judges will come to a unanimous decision as to if the lifter's lift should count, and it is then added to the lifter's total if they believe it should be. The next lifter then comes on.

The next event will be detailed in my follow up to this post.

Overview for "Max squat tossed over the head" event.

Details and Setup: Standard powerlifting squat setup, however, an Olympic bar and discs will be used. An Olympic platform is also neccesary. No spotters, as with all lifts in this sport.

Execution: The lifter will unrack the squat, on signal, he goes into the bottom of the squat (it must be below parallel), then on signal he will explode up and toss the bar over his head, having it drop on the floor. Note: If the bar does not clear the head and land in front of the lifter, the lift is considered a failiure.

Judging: Squat must be below parallel, the lifting must follow all the signals. As states earlier, the bar must clear the head. Style points are given for heighht (how high the bar travels over the lifter) and for the lifter's aesthetics and badassery during the lift. As well, bonus points may be given for the loudness and how much the bar shakes the floor when it lands on the ground. This is all at the judges discretion. As with the curl lifts, judges will come to a unanimous decision as to if the lift counts or not, and if it does, it will be added to the total along with style points as an inflationary helper.

The final principle lift will be detailed in the next post, the twenty rep squat.

Judging: Judges must ensure that all squats are below parallel, and are responsible for awarding bonus points for bar whip. Judges may also award bonus points for screaming, grunting and especially sweating. Dropping the bar after completing all 20 repititions and laying on the floor is acceptable. Note, although the last two lifts there are three attempts given per lifter, on this lift, each lifter only has one attempt. As with all other events, the judges will communicate to make a unanimous decision, add the weight to the total and allot bonus points.

There's little room for perfecting technique, which is again, absolutely critical. I think he did a few doubled tng at 90% after the bench days in the first few weeks.
