I bike at night OP, but only in one certain location, and I've nearly died several times. It's pretty nifty though, so why stop now?

There's this forest right near the city I live in, and when I mean right, I mean RIGHT near it, I get out of my apartment building and the forest starts 5 meters in front of me. It's pretty walked and known by everyone around, and it's very popular for going out to drink and grill and shiet, plus other cool stuff like gingko trees planted by someone in a meadow, fossils (the hills the forest is on are made up of limestone) and tons of birds and squirrels that don't shy away from humans. However, the flank opposite of my apartment building is really steep, it's a rock face that's nearly vertical and a 20 meter fall onto rocks and dense forestry.

It takes me around 20 minutes to ride my bike to the edge and it's a very steep uphill ride. I go out at around midnight, usually a bit earlier than that, and after a certain point I just chill, maybe have a drink. I do all of this alone, and you might be wondering - what sort of fucking moron would willingly do this?

It's hard to explain really, but there's something magical about it, something I've never felt in my life except for one occasion. It's dangerous, it's uncertain and I could fucking die any second without anyone being aware of where I am or what happened, and that feeling makes me feel more alive than anything else. And there's more - at night, weird shit goes on pretty much everywhere where humans live, but especially in this forest, perhaps because of its proximity to the city. I've seen people fucking, people smelling trees, people roaming aimlessly with torches, guys dressed in black without light just walking through (maybe just the same guy), drunks, yelling hobos, guys with huge dogs in the middle of the forest and other bikers.

Why this weird shit goes on I don't know, but there's a certain uniqueness to mountain biking at night you gotta experience to understand.
