You were fat not because you didn't exercise, but because you ate too much. And you probably ate too much because you fucking suck at measuring food. So get a kitchen scale to count calories. You need objective numbers because your subjectivity is fucked in this area from being a fatass for so long.

There's also little point in exercising right now. Exercise is not what's going to get you to stop being fat nor is it going to stop you from becoming fat once more. Losing weight is 100% about the diet, exercise only gives a little help (calories burned by being alive aren't all that different from calories burned by being alive and doing a bit of exercise).

SO, my advice:

This one really fucking gets me. I herniated a disc in my back playing hockey. I went to 5 different dr's just trying to get an MRI to confirm. Most outright denied me, some offered me pain pills but no one would give me my simple request for a fucking MRI without jumping through fucking hoops, but the only reason they won't give that whale one is because she can't fucking fit in the machine. I always thought I was one of those "naturally skinny" guys... looking back on it, I had been doing hard physical labour all my life, so I never so the consequences of my bad diet weren't visible in the shape of weight gain. I could eat 3000+ cals a day when I was doing concrete work and still hardly gain any weight.

I kept up that shitty diet once I got a desk job (since it was habit) and gained about 40lb in 2 years.
