I went to a new gym today and all they had were these autism weights everywhere. Literally none of them had any indication as to how much they weighed, just different color autism weights everywhere. How the fuck am I supposed to know how much "blue" weighs? I damn near broke my back in half trying to squat the rainbow.

Why would a gym do this? I asked two different people and they both told me different things. One gave me weights in kg and the other in lbs and when I did the conversion in my head, they were way off. Can someone tell me the weight of each of these autism weights so I don't end up paralyzing myself with two gay flags on a bar? Thanks.
>>

I think you just found this gyms new motto
>>
>>36836533
holy shit did you look at the inside of them
>>
I rather not know the weights and lift than see the weight and loft not real amounts.

>tfw 45pound plate weight 38 really

Fucking physics
>>
>>36836533
If this isn't you being autistic here are some pretty simple things you can do:
>lift one up
>oh this is pretty heavy
>probably 45 lbs
or
>oh look a scale
>weigh weight
or
>wow look at the difference in size between each one
>trying to 'squat the rainbow' would probably result in a total weight of 285 which is so pathetically low that it shows that you are no where near big enough to be allowed to be that dumb
>>
>>36836556
How the fuck would I do that? Am I supposed to cut them in half? I looked on both sides and they had nothing written on them. Not even a brand name. Literally autism: the weights.
>>
>>36836533

5, 10, 25, 35, 45

Although I have seen gyms before without 35s, so who knows?

55lbs, 45lbs, 33lbs, 25lbs, 11lbs.

Not exactly sure on the last one. My set stops at the greens and drops down to change plates.
>>

I don't have scales for hands, nigga. How the fuck am I supposed to make any progress if I don't even know what I'm lifting?

45lbs or something like 44.937......... has always been blue.

Not if you're going by metric oly plates.

If they say 45lbs, then you just have 45lb plates and theyre not specifically made for oly lifting.

>>36836686
>>36836698

Then why are there so many fucking places in America with red 45s
>>
>>36836616
Convention by Eleiko for competition plates is that red weights are 25kg or roughly 55lbs. Rogue is just translating that for us Americunts.
>>
>>36836711

Yeah they say 45 but they're red rubber bumpers minus that cifcular metal plate

Not by Eleiko's convention. And Eleiko is pretty much the standard in olympic weightlifting and international powerlifting.
>>
>>36836717
Again, if they say 45lbs theyre not made for Oly (although you could use them for whatever the fuck you want.) The manufacture just wanted to paint them red. It's really that simply.

If theyre OLY plates, built even a semi legitimate company, they will be color coded correctly.

Cool, my old gym had black bumpers that said 45lbs, 25lbs, 10 lbs. Doesn't mean black means anything specific.

I have 600 lbs of Rogue Oly bumper plates (training set) and Vulcan change plates. The colors are a set standard. Anything that deviates from that standard is either wrong, or intentionally not meant to adhere to it;
>>

Yeah but if he's in America they could be 45s. I've seen red 45s quits a few times at different gyms.

You can enter a competition with any numbers, it just depends on how you do. To get to higher levels you have to place and qualify via the bottomfeeder competitions. Also it's of course going to depend on your body weight.
>>
>>36836614
You actually have to be completely new to lifting if you don't know what a 45 feels like.
>>
>>36836533
Grays are 5s
Greens are 10s
Yellows are 25s
Blues are 35s
Reds are 45s

These are universal crossfit weights. I worked in a crossfit gym over the summer, it's customary to not have numbers on the weights as to not "discourage" the people who are working out, rather set a goal to work towards, (i.e. "today I lifted the greens! Tomorrow, we shoot for the yellows..")

It's gay as fuck, but it makes crossfit tons of fucking money. with that being said, what the hell are you doing in a crossfit gym? Don't try and lie to me boy, I know a scratchy concrete floor and neglected wooden boards for "power lifting" when I see one.
>>
>>36836781

Red is 25kg according to IWF conventions, not eleiko's.
It's the olympic standard, it follows the colour of the olympic rings (they describe a 30kg black plate in the manual, but haven't really used it yet).

>Oh great, I lifted "blue-red" today, hopefully I make it to "green-green-yellow" before the end of the month

I do this. Only im not a fag so I know how much colors weigh.

Blue red would be 110kg and Green Green Yellow would be 90kg.
>>
>>36836809
Well to qualify for the American Open at 85kg (assuming you bulk up your body weight) you'd need a total of around 544 lbs. 460 if you are competing for the Youth championships.

But these are the upper echelon of American competition. You can still show up to smaller meets. To be honest I can't give you a number for those meets because I mostly do powerlifting and olympic weightlifting is just a side thing/something I pay attention to at the upper levels. You're better off asking OWG
>>
>>36836842
1. Never buy competition Oly weights, always go with the training.
2. Never buy from Eleiko unless you plan on competing in the Olympics.
>>
>>3683653
Red = 25kg
Blue = 20kg
Yellow = 15kg
Green = 10kg
Gray/black = 5kg

This is pretty much the international standard for weightlifting and powerlifting.
>>
>>36836842

That's a competition set bby. It's highly calibrated to the minimum details for world-class competition.
That's why it's expensive.

Training sets are cheaper. Though still expensive from big brands like Eleiko, as they also have a big standard when it comes to calibrating the training plates.

Here's their training set
http://www.eleikoshop.com/collections/complete-sets/products/eleiko-olympic-wl-training-set-men-190-kg-rc-colored

Keep in mind the price includes the also very expensive top-tier bar, and that those plates are made from very expensive rubber. There are cheaper ones.
>>

>>
>>36836892
fuck off you deranged mental case
>>
>>36836912

Go to smaller competitions. You'll be surprised at how well you can rank even with low numbers.

Then you progress from there. No reason to worry about how much you need for nationals if you haven't even participated in a small meet yet.

Do it!

Those look like the strange ones at my gym. Unlike the typical configuration of 25kg for red, 20kg for blue, 15kg for yellow and 10kg for green, the ones at my gym are 20kg red, ~16kg (35lb) blue, 25 pound yellow, 10 pound green. They look to be about the right size for that configuration as well. The gym I'm at now is I suppose my fourth gym, but it's the first time I'd ever seen that configuration of weights, and I think yours might be the same, OP. They have a sign up at my gym listing the colour and the weight, because it isn't marked on them.
