I started losing my hair in high school. In my grad photos I was already a norwood 2 with a balding patch in the back. I met her when I was 21-22 and we broke up a few months before my 29th birthday. I doubt the derm will know much about it, only a few clinics in the world use it(including the famous Belgravia Clinic), you can buy it online but it's somewhat pricey compared to minoxidil.

Link below is to an all in one mix of 15% minoxidil, finasteride and some growth promoters like caffeine and retinol. Clinical trials have shown that it's kind of the opposite to oral finasteride insofar that oral lower serum DHT by about 75% while only lowering scalp DHT by 30% whereas topical lowers scalp DHT by 75% but only lowers serum DHT by 30%(which should still be in the healthy male range).

The doctor who first researched the use of minoxidil for hair loss found that 15% concentration was optimal for best results but the Rogaine people told him to eat a dick and only made a 2% and 5% product so if you're willing to pay extra you should consider the 15% version, personally I buy minoxidil powder and dissolve it in Kirklands to boost the concentration from 5% to 15%.
