Hand injuries make any serious cycling awkward, consider a unicycle, especially if you're a swolecunt
>>
at least will burn some fat in the process, i know i will loose some gains, im currently start countin my calories and eating in a deficit, it will help?
>>
btw the injurie is on the pinky finger

I commute every day (5km each way), takes 15-20 depending on traffic( I live downtown Toronto).
You save on transit costs, get some cardio, and get to eat an extra 300 calories a day. It's pretty great

Had the same problem with an elbow injury. Replaced lifting with swimming and running for two months.

You obviously won't make any swole gains, but you won't lose anything if you keeping using those muscle groups, either. Extra cardio never hurt anyone.

You're going to get a lot of input about the fitness-related effects, but here are some wider implications of adopting utility cycling:
>beat traffic or get reasonably close for trips shorter than about 5-7 miles, without getting sweaty or knocked out
>with practice, go further, but without beating traffic unless it's really bad
>save shit tons of money if you avoid owning a car, save a significant amount if you just use it less
>a great boost in independence if you're used to public transit, and some pluses even if you're used to a car - parking, gas, maintenance, etc..
>harden up in a more real-world way than what the gym has to offer - weather, haters, thieves, mechanical issues and regular physical labor
>greater awareness of your surroundings wherever you go, so you enjoy the view more and find useful places to go
>improved organization and planning skills, since you have to make do with limited cargo space and other constraints
>improved mechanical skills, since you have to maintain the bike and fix it occasionally
>nice compromise between the freedom of walking and the speed of driving
>potential good feelings about being greener than those people driving their cars
>potential foot in the door for various cycling-related subcultures if you're into that sort of thing

Dunno how to ride a bicycle but i want to start. cricket legs/glass knees need improvement asap.
How much am i looking to shell out for one? Do i just get a reasonable one for like 300~ bux or buy a piece of shit until i get the hang of it better?

Buy cheap to get you in to it.

Go to a bike specialist shop, and keep it under 100. Most places have a used rack. Do not immediately get a road bike. Start hybrid til you branch down your interest path (road versus mountain)

Be safe. Wear a helmet, get a front and back light and fucking learn your handsignals. Cars use any chance to fuck you up, accident or not. Learn that you could get hit at any angle at any time, and plan for it. Take safe roads, use sidewalks when not comfortable and go aat a speed good for you. Dont push yourself, getting erratic on a road can have grave consequences

Go for a cheap one. There is no real gain in high performance super bikes, since its barely any better.
You are also better off with a proper seat, because it will make it easier to ride for longer.
