The issue too is that if you're low on carbs, RIP in peace trying to lift as heavy or intense as before. So your TDEE might go down, causing a slower weight loss if you don't compensate with lower calorie intake.

I like cutting with keto, but I don't any more because my lifts go to shit and I lose too much muscle.

It's still a matter of calories in, calories out. Any diet that keeps you at a caloric deficit but helps you keep cravings in check so that you stick with it will work. For some people, that's low fat. For other people, low carb works.

Low cal is what you need to cut, no way around it, but fat had a higher efficiency of conversion to adipose. Carb you only have 80% versus 96% with fat. So I'd say low fat.

Actually attempting this now.

Tbh I think it depends on how many calories. If they're each cutting the same calories it's probably the same (unless one raises your metabolism/TDEE but I'd about that). But high carb is probably more sustainable for most people as our primary preferred carbon source is glucose (hence the carb cravings when you're on keto).

Go for healty fats (olive oil), protein from low fat meats, low fat yogourt etc, also protein from vegetables (beans). Carbs from rice, pasta, better if whole grains.
No sugars (except at breakfast), no processed food. Buy raw ingredients and cook your own meals.
