anyone here built this rack?
>>36618686
that looks like shit
>>36618686
steel sauat stands are less than $100
why make them out of wood? That seems hella dangerous
>>36618686
I made this and have been using it close to a year.
>>36618712
>Retards don't know how strong wood really is
>>36618712
theyre quite expensive where i live
>>36618712
>sauat stands
>>36618762
Oh so they don't have the internet where you live because on the internet that start at $43.00.
>>36618712
>>36619703
>$43.00 "sauat stand"
>holds only 205 lbs
THANK YOU ALIBABA SHILL
>>36619721
Squatting more than 205lbs is bad for your knees.
>>36619770
>squatting more than 1pl8 is bad for your knees
NEVER GONNA MAKE IT

>followed by a muffled "scooby help"
The real problem isn't the wood, it's the fucking bucket of concrete. That shit will tip easily with 300 pounds on top.
>>36619770
>>36619911
nice recovery there
please don't do this, especially not with 160kg
>>36619770
why did you pick 205
>>36619911
that's a stupid fucking rack desu
>>36620178
I imagine if Dennis and Mac had a child somehow, that /fit/ would be that child
>>36620257
Mac already is pretty much pure /fit/, I feel like Dennis's sociopathy doesn't really match /fit/'s autism.
Do you want to get paralyzed for life, cause this is how you do it.
>>36620194
Because the sheer force on the lumbar spine is greater at 205lbs.

No, doing crossfit is how you get paralyzed for life.
Building a Leg Press at home is a much better use of resources.
1. Safer on your knees and back
2. Proven to recruit more motor muscle activation than the typical Back Squat
3. Much better exercise for muscle building / sculpting
4. Again, Safety. Squats have been proven to lead to injury in the majority of exercise enthusiasts who incorporate them into their fitness plan.
>>36618757
Ya I never understood why people think that wood cannot support a 300lb barbell. That particular set up looks a little iffy though as you are fucked if you happen to knock one bucket over

I have, it made it a while ago and it works amazingly for $30
>>36618686
HOLY SHIT anon are you me?
A few hours ago I found out in a YT comment that people actually build this.
I have a bench, barbells, dumbbells, quite some weight and 0 money left, so I'm definetely building this shit for my squats.
Looks sturdy as fuck (wood is a lot more stronger than people think), but going with a wider bucket might be a better idea.
>>36621400
Read the article regarding the myths of the squat on scoobysworkout.com if you don't believe me.
>>36621463
>>36618686
I'll tell you exactly why this is a terrible idea.
>load up weight
>get ready to squat
>go to lift bar
>oops bumped the rack
>now racks are misaligned
>perform squat
>go to rerack
>well shit maybe I shouldnt have built my rack out of plastic buckets on a concrete floor
>bail weight onto floor
>>36618686
Not a bad budget option. I'd just save for a used power rack though.
>>36621553
I'll tell you exactly why you are a faggot
>nail a sturdy pole/cross between the two racks
>literally nothing else is needed to fix this issue
use your brain next time you want to be a smug contrarian fag
this one looks much better
>>36621792
>nail a sturdy pole between racks
Nice one, genius. You mean exactly where you're going to stand while lifting the weight off?
>>36621553
Just be careful.
>>36619911
>this kills the bar
>>36621860
I mean exactly on the top, where you put down the bar, in a way so the plates don't touch it.
How long I'm I going to spoonfeed you before you start using your imagination anon?
>>36621967
>>36622093
or you can just glue/nail the concrete buckets to a wooden platform so they wont fall over
>>36622121
this is the kind of imaginative anon I want in my board
>>36621553
That's why you dig holes outside, cement the posts there , and keep the weight in the garage when not lifting
>>36619911
>safety bars faced away from racks legs
>whats is physics
Whoever made this piece of shit knew what they were doing
They want to destroy us
I bet it was /fa/ and /sci/
>>36619862
good job anon I have also seen that image do you mind if I post this on reddit for le karma
>>36620204
>>36622496
That's a powerlifting competition rack retards, it's made to fit in the back of a car
>>36622630
Well that shit is fucking retarded
They need to add legs parallel with the safeties
>>36622777
PL racks don't bother with safeties because they're for comp use (and most PLers train in groups anyway). Spotters are around and they're much less likely to destroy the bar than having to dump onto the safeties.
