Yesterday I did 3x8 for the bench with basically enough weight that I wasn't leaving anything in the tank. I then used the slingshot at the same weight and only managed to get 12 reps when I was going at a fair controlled speed utilising little momentum. Would this indicate a lack of Tri strength, or just me being fatigued? I felt fine after a short rest.

If it matters, if I fail the bench it's always off my chest by a few inches, probably where tris begin to take over. Strong shoulders weak tris? My ohp has always been quite close to my bench too, but that might not be relevant.

I went to the gym today and tried to mimic it and could not. I could not get such an extreme back angle, it felt as if my lower back would snap and was actually painful.

Is this a sign of weak back? My deadlift is maybe 5-10kg stronger than my squat.

It's fine either way, just treat this as a volume accumulation period and slowly increase the weight of your backoffs and drop the volume and boom, intensity/peaking phase.

Don't consciously try to lean forwards. If you're doing lowbar and not consciously trying to stay upright, your body will do proper amount of lean automatically.

Mate, your body is going to naturally hold the bar over your midfoot at the center of gravity. Trappy is trying to tell you to "break at the hips" and is being an idiot about phrasing it. When you try to force forward lean, you're actually putting the bar past your midfoot, putting a ton of strain on your back. The correct back angle is the one that keeps the bar over midfoot, which is something you probably don't have to worry about if you break at the hips, keep your core engaged, and pull down on the bar.

Next time you squat, take a video and post it here.

Strengthen your spinal erectors (back extensions, deadlifts) and make sure your spine is neutrally extended (not hyper, not flexed).
Warmup properly.
Make sure your knees are opening when you go down (they should track over your feet), and your feet pointed out at an angle.

Don't try to lean forwards, don't try to stay upright either, let your body do what it should do by itself.

If the pain is constant, switch to highbar or front squat while you strengthen your spinal erectors. You can go back to lowbar after your back is stronger.
