Pic related is my current issue, I am poor and have taste buds that hate a large amount of foods

Use seasoning, you tard

McDonald's
>>
not expensive is pretty subjective

Steak and eggs rarely get old for me
>>
>>36589274
Instead of making fun of my severe autism can you perhaps suggest a few combinations of protein foods and seasonings that will taste good and be cheap.

For me it's kidney beans or chickpeas.
Cheap as it gets, good protein, tastes great with some chili powder or hot sauce.
>>
>>36589287
Beef is pretty expensive, brah

Then again, I'm kind of a cheapskate. I generally refuse to pay more than $2/lb for meat
>>
>>36589265
Probably some type of legume.
>>
>>36589291
The beauty of bland foods is that you can build flavor on top of them. Just use whatever seasonings you like
>>
>>36589296
Thank you for the suggestion, I already have baked beans often but they are kinda bleh and I am guessing kidney beans are better than regular beans, I will try something like this soon

Confirmed for not making it

Never been a fan of baked beans. Kidney beans just have a nice savory flavor and nice mashed potato texture. Add in some peppers and onion and das it mane. Also pretty filling.

>>
>>36589345
Brine it like this guy said >>36589358

Brotip: use leftover pickle juice as brine

Other than that, I just stir-fry it with veggies and whatever spices I'm feeling like. A lot of my cooking is just throwing a bunch of shit in a frying pan with some olive oil

Isn't brine over 2300mg of sodium?
>>
>>36589403
You're not drinking it. Just marinating the chicken in it for a couple hours

Besides, sodium shouldn't be an issue unless you already have blood pressure issues
>>
Tuna
>>
>>36589403
Most seasonings you can actually taste will add a lot of sodium. I'm just getting used to eating things plain or with (crushed red) pepper if the dish calls for it. Occasionally I might throw in some garlic powder or actual garlic.
>>
>>36589418
>>36589380

>Brine
Niggas just don't overcook your chicken, it's not hard
>>
>>36589265
Listen fucktard, you want to make it? You need to learn some DISCIPLINE, and that extends into the kitchen and mealtime, too, especially if you're a poorfag. You're poor, you eat cheap food, and you eat the same foods more or less all the time, and if you want to make it, you damned well learn to like it. You shop at places like Winco and get cheap-ass chicken breast for $1.99 a pound, and you fucking learn to love it. Then you make it. Then maybe you see it was all worth it. Now stop whining about your pampered, sensitive taste buds and go eat some chicken.
>>
>>36589432
I am trying not to eat tuna too much because mercury (is it safe to eat over a kg a week?) but when I do eat it it still tastes kind of bland to me, any suggestions on what would be good to mix with it?
>>
>>36589279
this is actually true for your vendiagram, as it it didn't say anything about it being healthy

This, sodium is a lot more negligible than people think.

I've used this many times, works great.
>>
>>36589437
Why do you give so much of a shit about sodium?

Not exactly

Salmon is cheap. I like it. I get mine for like ~8 bucks for a pound. vanilla Greek yogurt also super yummy.
>>
>>36589345
you don't even have to brine it, just put some honey and soy sauce on it, then drown it in garlic powder. either that or flour, egg, and breading will keep it juicy.
>>
>>36589476
How does the taste of Salmon compare to Tuna (I know it has less mercury) and what does it go good with?

Chicken thighs. little fat, high protein, tastes great with seasonings, less than $10 for a pack.

Pretty much any kind of legume: kidney/black/white bean, chickpeas, etc Ican eat them plain, or a bit of salt and pepper.. italian seasoning, etc. quinoa is decent too.
>>
>>36589380
>A lot of my cooking is just throwing a bunch of shit in a frying pan with some olive oil

literally: man cooking, the post
>>
>>36589265
>taste buds that hate a large amount of foods
Well there's your problem.

Seriously though. Things that may or may not be cheap in your area and contain decent protein of varying levels of leanness:
>kidney beans
>lentils
>beef mince
>heart
>eggs
>chicken breast
>bacon
>tinned sardines/tuna/salmon
>cottage cheese
>protein powder
Select one or more, find recipes that involve them, possibly with some cheap as dirt items to pad it out. Done.

The real test of whether something fits the centre of the venn diagram is whether it's still ideal when cutting, btw. Some of the above doesn't quite fit that, but for bulking it's all fine.

These sure do sound like healthy active people who workout several times a week. You realize if you're actually working up a sweat and drinking water to replace lost fluids you need a higher sodium intake than 700mg in that paper you cited, 2300mg is fine unless you're BP is high.
>>
>>36589291

every fucking meat tastes like not very much until you season it in some way
>>
>>36589480

salmon is a more oily fish and kind of melts in your mouth, it's more creamy than tuna, which is more fleshy like a red meat. True tuna steaks, not canned meme shit, are more like a mammal meat and can be cooked and served in a similar way. Salmon and other fresh water fish with pink flesh, like trout, are unique and have a fairly distinct taste that I can't compare to anything else.

what is the best source for protein besides whey?

i mean literally the most protein p 100g
>>
>>36589469
who needs only 46g of protein a day?
>>
>>36592898
Normal people.

Normal people don't lift heavy ass shit. Your average sedentary office employee doesn't need 180 grams of protein

There is a better more time efficient way to get juicy chicken breasts. Here is what you do (credit to the kitchn)

Preheat your oven to 400
Take your chicken breast, slather it in whatever you want. (I usually do some butter, salt, pepper, and garlic. Olive oil is also fine)

Get a glass dish, put your chicken in, and then cover it with aluminum foil

Cook for 30 minutes. (Although maybe check it at the 20-25 mark)

Brining is nice and all, but sometimes you just want chicken NOW and obviously it can take some time to thaw out. This method works just as well I've found. Some of the tastied chicken on the block.
>>
>>36589279
mcdonalds makes u fat, lazy and full of cancer. also its not cheaper then homemade real food
>>
>>36589356
Literally all seasoning is cheap except for saffron.
>>
>>36589265
Tysons Mezquite Chicken Breast isnt expensive and has great taste
>>
>>36589437
then make ur own healthy tasty seasoning?
>>
If you just want something cheap and easy, procure the following ingredients:
>Tin of tuna in water or oil
>Ginger
>Soy sauce
Drain the tuna, pop in some finely sliced ginger (About a thumbnail's worth to a tin/figure it out yourself), pour in some soy sauce (Not so much that the chunks start floating in it) and leave it for 1-2 hours or more. Proceed to eat it with rice or just as it is.

Alternatively, tuna, rice and teriyaki sauce mashed well together. I liked to call it North Korean dog food because it looked like shit, but it was cheap and tasted alright.

If you can get canned chicken on the cheap, drain it and dump it into an ovenproof dish with your spices of choice (paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, wee bit of salt, garlic), a bit of beer, type 1 330 ml can to every three breasts, and cover with aluminium foil, then leave in an oven set to 180°C/350°F for 3-4 hours, shred that shit up and eat in a pita bread/bread roll and have a very economic meal that tastes vaguely of BBQ and beer and a little bit like poverty and tears.

To allow the taste of the ginger and soy sauce to infuse in the meat a little. It's no biggie if you're in a hurry, though.

Pork shoulder. Frequently on sale for $0.99 / lb even in my expensive neighborhood.

Salt the outside with kosher salt and put in the oven at 225F until the temperature inside reaches 190-195F (use a meat thermometer). The meat will fall right off the bone.

It's a big cut (for you) so you can just put it in the fridge and cut off a slab for whatever purpose. Make a sandwich with lettuce and mayo, heat it up with barbecue sauce, put it in a stir-fry, do whatever you like.
