Stronger with bw exercises? Yes.
Bigger? No. Not unless you're Auschwitz.

How can you get stronger without getting bigger
>>

there's training for strength and then there's training for size. why do you think bodybuilders and powerlifters aren't the same thing?
>>
That dude in the pic is about as big as you can get with pure calisthenics training. Maybe a bit bigger, but not much. But there's nothing stopping you from buying a set of adjustable dumbbells to add to your program.

>weight is as simple as calories in vs. calories out
>bro you can't get bigger doing bodyweight

powerlifters are just fat bodybuilders

It works but you have to go crazy with it. The key is progressive overload - just doing more pull-up/push-ups isn't going to get you the size you want.

A push up is like a .30 bw Bench. A one-armed push-up is like a .6 bw Bench. Decline it shoots up to .8 bw. Hand-stand push-ups are bw presses. Etc etc.

This is simplifying it, but I've done both for years:

The biggest difference with bodyweight is that your larger muscle groups are constantly being held back by the weakest of your support muscles and tendons.

Weights, with benches and bars will compensate for that factor, allowing some support for smaller muscles and tendons (to different degrees, depending on the type of lift), so the largest muscles get to do more, harder work.

So, with bodyweight, you will get strong, especially in your tendons support muscles (core), and you will get bigger, but not as fast as you would just working the big muscles with compounds or doing isolation with weights.

it can only get you so far
you can't progress as you would with free weights
once you can do l-sits,pull-ups and shit like that easily that's pretty much it
