>Haven't worked out for 3 weeks cuz illness followed by midterms followed by babies coming to the world close to my family
>hit the gym after a really shitty morning filled with random anxiety (fuck if I know why) and bad coffee stomach
now that I think about it, anxiety was prolly just coffeine overdose, lmao anyways
>get to gym and start warming up real careful, perfect form on every rep and decent weight ratio
>say fuck it all
>beastmode
>hit a new PR in bench
What the fuck, do muscle athropy NEVER kick in? I didn't even do a fucking pushup or eat nearly enough protein during my absence from the gym.
Did I just benefit from a solid break from the gym? Rest periods legit?

Perhaps you needed a deload/dekon

You probly just a DYEL'er, thats why. Never had any muscle to lose in the beginning.
Or you could have had a real good energy to use that one day, try it again the same PR weight, if you can't do it then it was just your energy sweetspot (perfect carb intake/blood sugars at the moment).
You were out for 3 weeks, not 3 years
when you take a break you first see an improvement in performance caused by finally getting enough time to fully recover, but then performance slowly deteriorates. 3 weeks is not a long time.
