No, I'm a large well built man in his 30s.

Events like that are for geared up little men and children.

Whether you realize it or not, feats of endurance like that is almost 10 times as hard for larger men then smaller men women and children.
That is the trade off for strength and mass.

Ever seen a bodybuilder try to walk up a flight of stairs or go for a 10 minute walk? At my largest I was 295 at around 20% bodyfat and spent most of my time sprinting and training for high strength endurance and sprinting.
But if I even tried to run a full mile I'd be gassed in a little over a half mile.
