I love drinking but its easy to stop myself when i realize my dad is an alcoholic and it ruined his life. I gotta learn from his mistakes and know when not to drink.

Find a way to moderate it that works for you. Alcohol interferes a lot with muscle protein synthesis, so keep drinking to rest days since MPS is highest for the 24 hours after training.

Just don't drink so much on your rest days that you have to train hungover, which generally sucks. However training can relieve hangover symptoms.

Also, cut carbs all day before your drinking since beer is mostly carbs and alcohol (which is kind of a carb). Fat at breakfast is fine if you drink several hours later. Drastically reduce both carbs and fats, eating mostly protein, while drinking. So that'll be a grilled chicken salad, no dressing or croutons. Either that, or get fat.
