Yeah, it's weird. Even then it's just better to be stronger generally and crossfit seems like a muscular endurance thing. It's probably good for losing weight I guess but it just seems like a weird way to go about it.

Hurting oneself comes solely from a lack of attention to your own limits in this and any other form of training.

There is nothing wrong with cross-fit inherently. It's a volume program and a pretty good one for honing athletic ability (which has a lot of use in lifting outside of cross-fit too.

The real issue with crossfit is really how new it is. No one's really qualified to call themselves a fucking expert at it. It's not like powerlifting or weightlifting which have long established pedigrees and have been documented and studied scientifically.

The result is a lot of assholes get decently in shape enough to do a whole pile of stupid unrelated shit and then decide to pass on thier knowledge to others. And their knowledge is often wrong, frankly, and dangerous.

Someone who is already properly familiar with lifting form and safe practices can benefit from periodization involving crossfit. But it's not something that most people walk into a gym ready to do, or at a point of athletic development to really need it. The novice athlete actually benefits more from traditional strength training. Crossfit like activity would be better suited to blasting a plateau for a late stage intermediate.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

My cuck boss does crossfit (literal cuck). I watch his exercises, theyre like circuit programs. When you circuit power cleans and snatches, you get shitty form.

I wont ever be sold on it, you can gain everything from crossfit by just doing a simple strength/oly program with HIIT on the side.
