They don't, they have body standards set around caveman times which picked lean muscular guys over bulky cumbersome guys.

The problem is that /fit/ and in particular bodybuilding have unnatural ideas of what looks good and you have to go back to the early days to find anything even resembling a focus on functional strength.

Not that I'm shitting all over bodybuilding or anything, if that's what you're into then go for it. But assuming girls like bigger muscles tends to be true only til a very shallow mark (pic related) and it's much more about being lean.

Also as guys we don't like the idea that we're just as bad as woman at idolizing false standards set in beauty magazines, but we completely do both as individuals and as a society. The guys you see in the action movies and cartoons are supposed to represent the pinnacle of man when they're just shallow caricatures, but that shit gets in the psyche and before you know it everyone wants to look bigger.

My husband was fat when I met him and I was chubby. We both hated how we looked so instead of going to McDonald's we did something about it. Worked out like crazy. We still work out a few times every week together. Now we're both good body wise, fall on and off the fit wagon as life gets busy but still pushing for perfection. Lots of women want men they can grow with, I don't believe in you're perfect the way you are. People can always become better. Unless they're lazy and then who wants them anyways, that goes for men and women.

The real question is why does /fit/ have such a high standard.
