Are amino supplements worthwhile?
I'm already taking whey isolate, should I double down or what

Are these amino acid supplements a scam? I've heard some of those healthscience/bodyscience companies tend to use them in their marketing scheme.

They did some studies about 15 yrs ago and they showed some positive (not good or great) results for elite/professional athletes who were going into a "contract year". Basically the athletes spent $300-$600 a day which no one can afford except pro athletes. I remember Charles Poliquin was one of the "gurus" with some input on it.

If you look through most research on aminos they're done on hospitalized patients via IV drip. If taken orally they should be in peptide form for proper absorption.

I took them for a couple years in large doses. Didn't really notice a difference when I stopped.
But I will say this - I completely tore my distal bicep tendon and took a shit load after surgery (along with tons of other shit) and was fully release after 21 days. Most recovery is 4-6 months. Dr said I recovered faster than anyone he has ever seen. Don't know if they played a role but I would recommend for serious injury recovery or to prevent any type of severe muscle wasting (broken bone in cast)
