I just started this variation of 5/3/1 and the squat/deadlift days are absolutely destroying me. Even without doing the joker sets.

wendler recommends 2 cycles + 1 deload nowadays so you get 40kg of progress in a year. if youre intermediate and have a 120-130 bench increased by 40kg in a year id say thats pretty good

basically autoregulation, if you have a good day and the weights feel light you do an extra set in after the AMRAP set with 5 or 10% more weight. greatly improving things is a bit exaggerated IMO as i understand youre only supposed to do it once a cycle for each movement or so but i havent really tried it myself yet

I have always been a weak skinny fat, who puts on fat easily, but not muscle.
Quick programs such as TM always make me stall like a mofo (even if constantly gaining weight), 5/3/1 is much more effective for me
