I don't think I would have argued that every ACL/MCL tear makes them go writhing in pain. Especially since I watched Jordy Nelson tear his ACL and then get up and jog to the locker room.

a lot of strong guys there. I think 2 guys that squat over 900 single-ply, and a handful that are benching over 405 raw. everyone is super helpful too with advice and stuff. I've noticed in general that gyms that are more PL/Strongman specific are a lot more friendly in general. plus it's the only gym in the area that allows chalk so that's nice too.

Advice please

Background : 35yrs, 6' 230lbs
Basically between work, major knee injuries, bicep tear, cervical spine injury I took about 2 yrs off. I have totaled elite at 218 in the past. Started back up after all clear about 3 months ago. Using 5/3/1 right now because of weekly progression (with some tweaks) and time constraints. Always had great functional strength (deadlifted 495 x 3 @ 14yrs old 220lbs) strength is going up but not fast enough for me. Am I being too impatient and it will come? Always went hard and find it hard to back off. What's a realistic time table? I dont expect to bust out in a week but the nnumbers are not moving up fast enough for my liking. I bloated up to 260 over the two years off but that came off quickly as soon as I drug the rack back out.

Weighed in at 98.5 so was a bit too much under

Tried to take on fluids too fast and got sick, then had an upset stomach all day. Could barely eat and couldnt rehydrate properly.

Felt awful on the morning but a couple of experienced heads took control and looked after me, got through warmups and lowered opener, 220 and 230 went well and 240 was just too much in my weakened state

By bench id eaten and drank and felt better, got 150 opener just got rack command before i slammed it in, bit overzealous. 155 went up too albeit a bit touch and go and waived 3rd.

By deadlifts i was feeling good, its my lift. Dropped opener to 290 and flew up. 300 was easier. Locked out 310 and held it but got 2 reds for shoulders not being far back enough

Lot of lessons learned and im well aware i was given gifts on the bench but my 3rd pull evened it out. Wont be cutting again

25kg total pr and 15kg bench pr 685 total

Happy with the prs but disappointed overall
