I have a friend that has a degree in EE and hasn't made over 60k yet the 4 years he"s been in the field. And he's the coolest engineer I've ever met (had a 3.8 gpa as well). That's exactly why I, a non-autistic and very social person, am majoring in engineering. I worked as an intern for a company this summer, and I literally got all the credit for the intern team's success, despite having 2 other intern co-workers. Without even trying, I took control of the group, took control of our projects, and handled all the communication from my boss and other engineers.

My boss wrote me a stellar recommendation, and I plan on doing the same thing at my.next internship, and the next, and at my job when I get hired straight out of college making $80k.

The gym is pretty good: 3 racks and platforms, 4 benches, one bench with rack. Some machines and stuff. And now the best part: there`s a dedicated strength room for sports teams and those who compete in powerlifting or weightlifting!

Social life is also great. The town is so small that there is no way to escape socialising. People are extremely diverse and interesting.

I go to UC Berkeley. I interned at Apple my sophomore year and LinkedIn my jr year (both software engineering roles). The thing about Apple is that the only hard part is getting the interview. The interview questions themselves are pretty easy.

I don't regret doing CS but I wish I dualed in a business/finance degree. Definitely try CS though, man. The only math classes your CS major probably requires is Calc 1-2 (maybe multivariable depending on your school), Linear Algebra, and possible differential equations. You'll probably take these classes within the first 2 years of uni but you don't really have to touch "hard" math after that. Shit was pretty tough but just ask your professor/TAs and class tutors for help. There will be tons of resources at your school for you to succeed as long as you don't slack off too much. Just don't drink, smoke weed, and pop molly every weekend and you'll be fine

118K might sound like a lot but I live in the Bay Area where everything is so fucking expensive. (118K = 74K in Austin, TX) It's one of Microsoft, LinkedIn, Yelp, Facebook. I think for CS unlike investment banking, as long as you don't go to a shit school, WHERE you go doesn't matter too much (btw PSU is a great university with a top engineering department). When you apply for internships in your sophomore year, be prepared to hustle like crazy at career fairs and get rejected by 30+ companies. Learn how to really sell yourself (CS majors are pretty fucking socially awkward so if you're not weird, you have a pretty good advantage over other candidates). Once you get interviews, check out glassdoors for sample interview questions and read Cracking the Coding Interview.

My GPA is currently a 3.2 (3.3 as a sophomore, 3.2 as a junior). I feel as if a 3.0 is good enough for any internship but aim for a 3.3 your sophomore year. After your soph year, your GPA doesn't really matter as much as long as you have a decent internship under your belt. Leverage that internship to find better internships the next year. The benefits of a dope GPA go down for CS after that IMO unless you're trying to go to grad school.

I had only one personal project (an iOS app that's complete shit) that I made during a hackathon the fall semester of my sophomore year. Oh yeah, if you want to pad your resume, go to 1-2 hackathons even if they suck hard.

I have a github but i only use it for school work. All my internships were software engineering. Little to no coding required for product management but if you want to be one immediately after graduating college, you should have a pretty solid CS background (not a requirement though - i have a friend who's majoring in business admin but she managed to get a product mgmt position as well).

Oh yeah, keep in mind that you can directly apply for product management intern positions as well. That might've made my path a little easier.
