To be fair, upstate new york gets pretty damn redneck. I live in georgia, but the suburbs of atlanta (now downtown for school), so not a very rural area at all. Small towns in the middle of new york are indistinguishable from small towns in southern georgia during the summer. Most of the people in that area fulfill far more redneck stereotypes than even the most southern people i know.
