To me, confidence is entering an uncertain situation and trusting that you will be able to deal with whatever happens and ultimately succeed.

With this in mind, true confidence comes from being experienced at whatever you are doing, whether it is talking to girls, playing a sport, or just hanging out with people in general. You know how difficult something is, yet you know you are capable of handling it.

False confidence comes from ignorance: you have no idea how difficult something is, and you have no idea how terrible you are doing at it, but you are certain you can do it because you don't even understand how badly you are doing.
