Running Thread

Questions, advice regarding every aspect of running.
For those who running is their main sport, how do you incorporate lifting?

>Thinking on moving to 5k distance.
>>
I dont incorporate lifiting.
Go for 5k.

Anyone any experience with learning dat fore/midfoot strike?
>>
>>34919836
Look up POSE running. It's actually pretty hard not to when you have this form down.

In general your foot/leg shouldn't extend beyond in line with your shoulders, you'll automatically land on your midfoot. Your stride shouldn't be huge.

can i go from 14:00 to 11:00 time at a 3k run till may 2016? 6'0 195 ~15% bf.
would it help much if i drop to ~10% bf or lower?
>>
>>34920614
Lower bf will help for sure.
For the time, it depends on a lot of things:
>How long have you been training?
>What is your training so far?
>What is your plan?

But honestly that seems hard. It took me 1.5 years to get that sort of time.

been running for about 1 year but only 2-3 times a month, sometimes less.
mostly 3k HIIT or 8-10k at medium heart rate
not sure about my plan, wanted to continue like this but only more frequent, 4-5 times a week i'd say
>>
>>34920694
You need to start to build a training plan and periodize if you want to go to the next level. Start by building a base, you will be amazed of the results you get out of it.

>Thinking on moving to 5k distance

5k should be the minimum distance anyone who is even vaguely fit should be doing in my opinion. I did a 5k in under 30 minutes after 20 years of being a couch potato doing almost no exercise. There's no reason any healthy young person shouldn't be able to do about the same, especially if they're running somewhat often.

alright, i'll look into that, thanks!

How do I start running considering I was never active in my 26 years?
I started doing brisk walks after work. Thinking of doing some P90 to get down to 85kg or something and around March start running.
>>
>>34920735
I thought I was better at higher distance but it does not seems to be the case.

Can run like 1-1.5 miles before being completely exhausted.

the other day I ran a 5k out of nowhere. I just had the energy.

How can I replicate that?
>>
>>34920786
Run more often.
>>
For weight loss do I want longer and slower runs or faster and shorter?
>>
What are some good training plans to run a faster 5K? I can do it in around 22 minutes at the moment. I want to get sub 20 by March, is that doable?

I Normaly average around 7.5 miles a run. 6.5 being my minimum distance and 8.5 being my max for now.

I went running yesterday and could only manage 4.5 miles.
today I went running and I was fucked after 3.7 miles.

This is not a good distance for me, I like to run further than this but for some fucking reason these last two days have been shit.

any tips ?
>it has been fucking hot these last two days so it could be this and I go running when the temperature is at its hottest because I'm impatient and can't wait untill night time.

should I start eating more? or give my self longer periods of rest ? I'm running at least 4 times a week sometimes more.

You're really out of shape, run more often. if you don't lift then start asap.
>>
Did you know running too much, to the point of over training can destroy your arteries?
>>
>>34921907
Doing too much of something can affect someone negatively?

Who would've thought?
