I've started doing an assistance exercise I've never seen but it's simple as fuck. I just put a band around my knees and sit into an unweighted squat for sets of 10-15 seconds trying my hardest to keep my knees out against the band. It's made a noticeable difference in eliminating knee valgus in my squat.

This heavier week of sheiko actually went pretty well. 85% benches were cake, 85% squats were cake, 85% deadlifts were 67% cake. I fucking misgrooved my 2nd set of 3 so bad it was ridiculous. Besides that everything is feeling good and nothing hurts. Happy as a clam desu.

feeling pretty miserable.

i'm pretty stoked with the squat PR, REALLY happy with bench despite not hitting a PR, but the more time i dwell on it, the more disgruntled i'm becoming with the turnouts of deadlift.

I'm very displeased that i cannot maintain even a half decent position on heavy reps, when in the past this has been the only thing i was good at.

Avon, thinking about it more i'm actually more confused and think theres a higher chance youre right and i shouldnt change anything. this stems from looking at this picture. in this picture, i didnt eat, fucked up and cut WAY too much weight, over water cut in addition, then got no sleep the night before the meet.

my back looks very similar to now, which leads me to believe maybe, the fatigue is the problem.

BUT if that is the case, thats even WORSE, because none of the deadlift volume I've put in has been beneficial, at all. None of my deadlifts in the last 5+ weeks have been good, period. every one of them has had this shitty hip position, no hamstrings or glutes and all lower back.

If thats the only way i've trained, there's not going to be any real addition to the movement even if I did clean it up.

I've been saying for a few weeks now that, while nervous for skills test, I actually had some confidence in good things for bench and squat, but deadlift did NOT seem like a good outlook.

Today to me was the final test of that. if you watch any of my deadlift posts from over the last few weeks, there is nothing but rounded back, zero hamstring, shit setup deadlifts.

Work at figuring it out. Grab your nuts and push through and stop convincing yourself a bad outcome is imminent. Next deadlift session get your deadlift right at the low weights and maybe do more warm up sets to try to maintain that form to working sets. But again JUST FUCKING TRUST THE PROGRAM.

I can only speak in regards to Starting Strength, but the mechanics of the lifts in the book are all about getting the most bang for your buck when training, most range of motion, biggest return for effort.

When we become more advanced, and begin to train competitively, we shift our focus to abusing the rules within our sport, and change our training approach appropriately.

that's true but those are abuses of technique. there's no reason why a lifter can't use the most efficient form for gaining strength in training, while fiddling with the nuances of technique that gives him the biggest numbers in competition. since strength is the single most important factor in factor in powerlifting, that's what people should, and already do. it's not unheard of to use one lifting form in training and to use another form in a meet that allows you to pull more weight.

Actually it quite often does shift - efficiency of technique has a lot to do with mobility, ROM, the strength of varying muscle groups and proportions of various muscle groups. All of which are subject to change as a lifter goes through his progression.

The most common being that bench grip tends to go out as a lifter goes up in weight classes - especially for taller lifters, who need to pack on a lot of mass before they shorten the ROM enough to get around the shoulder stress and lack of leverage off the chest they get when a lanky fucker tries to bench wide.

Step listening to plg, start doing overhead press again, pick a program which you like and allows you to progress and learn for, in your spare time. There's load of books on the dropbox which will help. Bench especially.

After you've picked a programme you can progress on, stay with it for as long as possible, try to go a full year before switching.

I disagree. Abosulte strength and explosive strength are incomparable. Think about lifting a grocery bag. The powerlifter would pull it slowly, while the weight lifted would use leg drive and speed to bring it up. Both are valid and 'athletic', just a different way to lift the same grocery bag.

If you can lift the weight at all, it doesn't require any willpower or determination. High rep sets are actually hard because its painful to complete the rep. Low rep sets just require the movement of your joints.

And diet is 1000x harder than lifting. well I literally have autism, so it could be retard strength. My proprioception abilities are high so my form is usually immaculate. This means all the necessary muscles are getting growth

also I did train seriously as well 2 years ago for 7 months, but I was max 63kg, and my lifts weren't as high, except bench which I did 5x67.5kg

so realistic total is 8 months, with 1 of those being after 2 years
