Set up with your shins closer to the bar. Bend the knees JUST until they touch the bar, then pull. The reason your hips rise is because you're too far back at the start of the movement. Think that your SCAPULA should be above the bar, and that your shoulders should be infront of the bar.

Feels bad. Also feel like I should go talk to someone about it but I'm afraid of it actually turning out to be legitimate.

I do still feel joy from lifting though which is a good sign. I think especially here recently with doing my own programming and it actually going well that's actually starting to afford me some sense of accomplishment.

I totally understand where you're coming from man. I used to be on medication for depression/anxiety and I got off it a few years ago. Extremely reluctant to go back to the doctor and get put on medication for something that is now manageable on most days.

I believe the medical definition for depression stipulates the feelings must last more than a certain amount of weeks, I think it's 4-6. You probably shouldn't worry about it unless it persists, but if it does, don't be afraid to go for help.

Hepburn is pretty close in spirit to fixing a weight and staying with it a long time, but ignoring that, it's much lower intensity with a bunch more sets and lower frequency than what I suggested, with slightly more variation. My camera angles are god awful. I had my tablet propped up on 2 different foam rollers.

Best angle is a 45' angle. Not the side, or from the feet, but between. Slightly elevated (above chest level).

This seems to be universally okay for assessing form, for the most part.

This was the first time with the mats, just to feel out block pulls and get a feel for the weights I'll work with. Had them stacked to 9 inches, which puts it a few below my knees, and 585 was hard as fuck. 625 just sat there laughing at me. Hit 605 sumo, which is something, I guess. As fun as it might be to go full Anderson and just start digging holes in the yard, I'll settle for stripping off a 3/4" mat each session. The thing I'm unsure of is weight/reps/sets. Peoples went heavier than he could off the floor, but that's not possible for me at the moment. Probably just means I need to be that much more aggressive since I'm weak in that part of the movement.
