5/3/1 vs SS thread

also--are you supposed to use leg drive for standing military press, and if so, how much leg drive?

>5/3/1 vs SS

you what? how is this even a real question.
>>
Asking this uqestion means you should not be doing 5/3/1
Read Starting Strength you stupid fuck

Using leg drive in a standing press makes it a push press. OHP and military press should be strict
>>
i want to do SS but rippetoe sounds like a massive autist, particularly considering he unironically touts that GOMAD shit.

as for 5/3/1, look at this: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance/how_to_build_pure_strength ("5/3/1 and Discontents" section)
idk about this author either. what is it with the modified 90% 1RM max that you use to base your workouts on? I'm not saying his science or ideas are bad, but the way he defends this point with all kinds of fallacies, sounding like an idiot, and never actually addressing the science behind using 90% of your 1RM for your workouts makes me really question his work. he doesn't address it in his ebook either as far as1 I can tell at a glance.

Just stop, you have absolutely no idea what you're doing.

>5/3/1 vs SS
smh. One is for intermediate lifters, and the other is for beginners.

SS is a beginner program optimized for milking the rapid progress you're capable of during the first few months of lifting. 5/3/1 is a program for more advanced trainees that delivers slow, steady progress. they're meant for completely different levels of training advancement.
