They're super flexible and roomy in the toe, but as you said aren't the best-looking. They're made out of pretty nice leather, though. They're one of the few shoes I've found that don't hurt my feet.
Here you go. Top row is unshod feet, bottom is shod (though a rather extreme example).
I did a research paper on this topic recently. It's kind of funny how we look back at Chinese foot-binding rituals as abhorrent, but at the same time are perfectly okay with stuffing our feet into ridiculously-shaped shoes for the sake of fashion. Just a few months of wearing improper shoes as a baby can fuck up your feet for life.
so is it healthier to let your baby go barefoot when they start walking?
ive had shitty flat feet since i was a baby and i do no want it to happen to my own even though
>having kids is not effay
Your baby may not need to wear shoes at first, since they'll probably do most of their walking indoors. Shoes are useful for protecting against cuts and cold in the outdoors, though. Shoes for babies should be very flexible, very roomy, with a thin sole and no heel. Nothing should be constricting the foot in any way.
Pic related is a pair of baby's slippers from Soft Star. Their construction makes them extremely flexible. You could also make your child a pair of custom-fitted moccasins if you're into leathercraft.
Those attributes would also describe an ideal shoe for all ages, but unfortunately many adults have feet that are permanently fucked up from wearing bad shoes. A lot of those people just can't make the switch to "barefoot"-style shoes without injuring themselves.
Not my pic, but i wore my MMM Converse, i have them with orange underneath

I'll upload the document to a pastebin or something and post that ITT instead.
Oh snap, you're probably right. I tried hotmail but didn't think of gmail. Anon to the rescue!
I couldn't get my stupid camera phone to focus properly, but here are the FBTs on my feet.
Go to cavenders and try some on. Each brand feels differently. I wear a 12 normally but with boots I wear a 10-10 1/2. Get Justin's, Ariats, Tony Lama, or Lucheese. Just don't get black boots. You'll also want to wear cowboy cut jeans. If you want something less casual look at some ostrich quill boots. You'll want them to feel really snug but also make sure your heel slips just a tiny bit when you walk. They aren't exactly cheap but they'll outlive shoes you haven't even bought yet.
That's because you haven't seen the shirt I'm wearing.
