in my experience as a student teacher in a lower-middle class area, a lot of the students dress in lower-tier streetwear type clothes. like colored skinnies, nikes, and a shirt with a logo on it. most of the students i would say don't try to look good and just wear like athletic shorts or sweats or other shit like really awful jeans.
where i went to high school ~2008 in an upper-middle class area most of the kids didn't try either, but the girls all had coach (or sometimes pleb designer) bags. girls were the only ones who tried to look good usually, and it worked for them. a lot of guys tried shitty bizcaz stuff and it sucked. generally high school guys only looked good if they wore streetwear shit or quirky thrifted shit
