I don't think his ego would let him so much as look askew at himself at any point in time.

I don't think he has the time to give a fuck and probably wouldn't care to explore the dimension of retrospective shame in regards to clothing when he has so much else to look forward to, both in clothing and in music.

I think the man actually enjoys clothing, and doesn't think about the implications of adhering to rules and judgment as much as we do.

Probably to a degree. You have to consider that "Kanye west 2006.jpg" was right in the time between when College Dropout was released in '04 and Graduation in '07, so as an emerging artist he was probably just following trends at that point and did not really have an eye for fashion.

If you read more into the rant he left on Twitter when he annouced Donda, he wasn't really serious about fashion until '09 or so, when Yeezy's came out initially. I wouldn't really count Pastelle as his emergence into Fashion, because it was short lived and basically had a hiatus, and did other shit with LV, Bape, Zanotti, etc.
