Hugo Boss didn't design the uniforms you utter dingus. their factory was used to produce some of them, along with others.

Oberführer Karl Diebitsch designed the SS uniforms and the regular uniforms were part of an overall uniform redesign Germany was in the middle of anyway.

I've always thought about a uniform both functional and /fa/shionable.
The problem is, camo patterns aren't really effay, and I wouldn't know how to combine it with something else.
I guess you could go with colour combinations or mono coloured uniforms depending on the terrain though (full beige for desert troops, green coat+brown trousers for forest troops, etc.).

You really can't make a modern uniform both combat effective AND useful as a dress uniform. In fact, with body armor becoming standard, the older zip/button-up overshirt of camo uniforms has given way to Combat Shirts with camo sleeves and moisture wicking fabric in battle, relegating those to base/garrison wear. Probably the best thing the Army did with the ACUs was declare no starching and change to practical suede boots instead of shiny black.

What you're thinking of was what militaries used to do until camouflage became understood as a critical component of a combat uniform.

Because they're kind of shitty as work uniforms, and the only difference between ACUs and with Combat shirt is you wear a combat shirt instead of the undershirt and zip-up shirt. Keep in mind that even when deployed you can't wear combat shirts unless you're in armor, too.
