I'm looking to buy one for work, black leather and nice looking/long lasting.

Bottega Veneta stingray cardholder in black.
>>
>>9346288

If you're looking at luxury leather goods brands, I'd suggest Bottega Veneta. Pricey, but the leather lining makes a HUGE difference in the item's longevity.

It comes in really handy to have cash while traveling, and even for small purchases.

I carry an Alexander Wang pony hair prisma wallet right now, but the pony hair is wearing down so maybe I'm in the market for something else. I've only had it a year and the zipper for the coin pouch has problems and the leather is worn in an ugly way. I don't think I'll change the style for a while because I travel fairly often and it can actually hold my passport but maybe I'll get a different textile

Been looking into minimalist wallets recently, had a few pop up, but i'm not sure about most of them.

http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/minimalist-wallets/ Been checking these out most recently. Kind of torn between the Dash 2.0 and the Shamrock one, or maybe Octovo's Slice. I've only got like 5-6 cards, so, yeah. I thought I might go for an ID slot one, but eh.

story time:

you know those international students that seem like they have really rich parents who buy them all the clothes they want? Maybe they're only in Toronto but idk

well actually I figured out you can achieve the same thing way less on a budget

it all made sense after I saw a bunch of asian guys with zanottis and shit shopping at Topman in the bay

You can get a shitty print that looks like it came from Givenchy or Kenzo or some shit for 1/30 the price

and what do you do with the savings? you buy a few pieces that stand out and draw attention like gold crocodile slippers

People are going to look at those and assume you're rich, they'll just glance past your Topman tshirt and assume it cost $800

This is actually a thing, I drove past the Stussy store on queen st w during Black Friday and saw a whole line of asian kids with shoes/jackets easily worth thousands from some designers, girls had LV purses and shit

and actual rich kids don't line up for 20% off lame streetwear which is the only thing that gave them away

instead of spending $100 on each item of your wardrobe to look like some dweeb from WAYWTS, why not just bundle it into $900 for some dog sweater that draws attention and buy your basics at Uniqlo or wherever, because nobody is going to notice them

I'm not saying all the rich looking kids do this, but there definitely are some

If you took a pic of one of them and posted here, everyone would automatically assume they're new money kids, even if they werent actually

It's that convincing

And the benefit of dressing like you have rich parents is:

People will treat you like you're important

Instead of like you're some filthy homeless guy who wants to steal their things

Looks matter

Trust me lots of people do that, in fact I do that. In an outfit I usually have 1, maybe 2 items that are expensive and the rest mediocre/cheap. Might wear an SLP topcoat (expensive) with idk allen edmonds boots (cheap-mediocre) and h&m jeans and a timberland oxford (both cheap). Now before you chirp me, the h&ms LOOK no different than my plain balmains, they sure FEEL a lot worse but unless I'm at a party no ones going to be fondling my jeans. I almost bought 3 pairs of SLP jeans a few months back and at the last minute I thought "wtf am I doing, I almost blew over 1k on black jeans, slow the fuck down". You just gotta be smart with your purchases, imo my money is invested top and bottom to center and outside to inside. I'll spend a lot on shoes and a jacket, less on pants and sweaters, less on shirting, and even less on underwear and belts. Of course there are variables and that is subject to change but it's what I followed for a long time before gradually making upgrades

Yeah sorry for the long rant, you managed to summarize it into a tenth of the length lol

I guess the aesthetic I'm describing is sort of minimalist/monochrome, but really expensive looking, so the gold SLP card holder ticks all the boxes

I know it sounds retarded just from reading about it, but if you saw it IRL you'd probably think it's cool.. Idk

Basically you need to have luxury in the details
And the basic stuff doesn't matter

You can't pull out a $20 "genuine leather" wallet from Winners if you want to keep up the look, but you could still get away wearing $10 H&M denim like you said

Thinking of getting Zanotti slipons for the summer

I'd be 100% doing what you have in mind except I live in a place where it's too hot for most of the year to even consider wearing outerwear or even a sweater so really the shirt often becomes the centerpiece of an outfit. but I def feel your general idea and it's dope

Casio watch: $15
Air max 90s: $100
No name sunglasses: $10

Dog shirt: $621.00 - $930.00

Way better outfit then spending $200 for an Acne tee, $100 Norse shorts, $500 common projects, $150 ray bans etc. like most people on this forum, because you'd end up looking completely average and still be paying way more if you fell for the "expensive high quality basics" ruse

It probably depends on the materials I use but if it was good leather (the stuff I used in that first model was shitty upholstery leather) I'd probably try for $35 bucks at first and adjust my price from there depending on the response I get. They're extremely easy for me to make and I have a good leather source so I think I could make a decent profit.
One of my prototypes had a frame around the little porthole. Thinking of bringing that back.
>>
>>9355792
yeah no that's way too much. you won't make insane profit because you won't sell a single one.

i think it's a pretty cool design, but I wouldn't pay more than 15 on etsy for it
>>
>>9355798
15 bucks just implies shit quality dude.
>>
>>9355798
I came up with that price by looking at similar items on etsy and asking people what they would pay. I think it's a reasonable price as long as I make sure the materials and construction are great. I'd wouldn't go lower that $25 for sure, any lower and I'd just be wasting my time.
>>
>>9355810
i mean let's get real, it looks like it'll last 6 months tops of daily use.

$25 is more reasonable, but kind of a stretch imo
>>
>>9355826
I've been using this one >>9355738 daily for the past 4 months and it's fine. The only issue is that the pieces of leather have started to separate slightly at the fold point, but it's just super glued so that's not surprising. To be fair it's about what people are willing to pay, not how much it's worth, and people are willing to pay stupid amounts for handmade leather goods on etsy. I'd rather sell them for $35 and only have to make one or two every month than sell them for $15 and make less money for the amount of time I'm spending working on them.
