How is the quality of popular skateboard brands like Volcom, RVCA, Matix, Vans and others?
Is the materials and stitching and all that any good? What are the best brands?

For shoes or clothes?

If you actually skate you already know what to look for in a shoe. Don't bother with any of the clothes.

For clothes.

As a skater I am very particular about my shoes and know where the quality is.
Clothes though is where I'm not sure.

All of the brands you mentioned really aren't designed for skating in any more, I'd think their quality has gone. Workwear stuff (Dickies, Carhartt) is gonna be a lot more durable than any skate-branded clothes

Volcom is a surf brand originally and their board shorts are ok but there are better. Otherwise all the brands produce same shit in same factories. I bought a DC fanny bag because it was cheap and I needed one atm, but obvs the quality is not the same as Porter or smth. You get what you pay for.

I've never ever, not once, had a single bad skateboard brand item of clothing.
Everything has held up for years, from DC to Nike SB to Volcom... literally everything.
They're made with skating in mind.
I've had to seriously hit the ground hard to damage any item of clothing... but to be fair when I skated I was about 8 stone in weight so when I fell it wouldn't be so much impact as someone who weighs more.

All in all I'd recommend paying a bit extra for skate brands, even if they're plain with no design.
