I've been looking at some Soviet men's watches from the 1960s on Etsy. How safe is it to buy watches that are that old? How likely is it that it won't keep good time or I'll have to get it restored? I don't want to spend $90 on a paperweight.

Ebay has tons of these in "working" condition under $100 if you're willing to look at something a little newer.
You could also take your watch in to a watch repair shop (not some mall watch repair shop) if your watch doesn't work. The service will probably cost more than the watch is worth, but that's the price you're going to have to pay for a unique watch.
