I'd go technical and compare the MOVEMENTS.

The steinhart has a superior movement to the Seiko, but it is smaller .I don't know what your preference is but I like a watch that sort of fits my wrist. OVERSIZED seems to be the preferred style these days though.

You're paying like approx $700-$900 for the Steinhard . Right?

You could get a approx $100 dollar Invicta 89260B with a MOVEMENT that is very similar to your approx $500 Seiko. Honestly, the Seiko is a rip off. I think you are paying more simply because it is "limited edition."

I was looking at something else.

The movement is superior to the Seiko (28,000 vs and costs less. I would go with the Steinhart, but unlike the Seiko Blue LAgoon, you have to buy pre-owned.

Yes, except that very similar is an overstatement. If any of those watches had elements which are signature for Rolex (like a date magnifier or the Mercedes hour hand) I might agree with you.

But even then, you can find watches which look VERY similar to Rolex and are still quite respected (Tudor, basically ETA movements in Rolex cases), although I personally wouldn't get one of those.
