/out/ist here, spend most my life in grubby clothes that are ok to get wrecked. But now my friends are starting to get married so I need to buy something formal. I've got probably around 500 gbp to chuck at an outfit but less would be better. Any suggestions? I'm 6' and slim if that helps. Just need something that I can wear to all these weddings coming up.

Navy blue single breast suit. It'll serve you in basically any occasion.

Would it be worth trying to save some of my budget it get whatever I buy tailored?

Why is this /fa/ weakest are of expertise but also the apex of fashion?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Fit is king. You don't want to look like a kid trying to fit in his father's suit. Like I said Navy is literally the most versatile color ever. Buy a medium tier one and get it tailored.

So there's a couple different types of suit, off the rack (self explanatory), made to measure (taking a basic pattern and tailoring it to you), and bespoke (straight custom). Each time you go up this chain the more expensive things get. More than likely you'll want to get off the rack and have a tailor for it to you (cheapest option).

I've found Suitsupply does really good off the rack suits and some of the best bang for your buck stuff. It'll be within your budge and will serve you for a long time assuming you take care of it.

Sorted, now just to get it all sorted by the weekend!

Because it's a deceivingly complex subject. I've spend hundreds of dollars in books and hours reading on suit style and I wouldn't qualify myself as an expert in any form or fashion.

Beautiful humility
