Why are belts made so thick and wide? Can't seem to find a 1 inch thick supple one layer leather dress belt with simple frame style single prong buckle

I Mustve gotten Some kind of ammonia solution on it at work or something, left a weird mark on my shoes too :/

yeah, i had same problem quite some time. also every belt seems to have square frame today. got the pic related, 1" and the leather is quite thick but very supple. though i would prefer nickel plated or steel buckle, but whatever

you could look into english bridle leather belts, many are 1 inch.
