Am I better off wearing pic related instead of Old Skools?

Meh, they are good shoes but they don't really replicate the same style as the old skool.

What do you all think about Chukka Lows? They are my favorite vans personally and were pretty popular like 5 years ago. IMO they are more comfy.

Kinda mad at myself that I didn't get these when they got released. Should I just make custom vans to make them look similar to these?

Depends on the silhouette you're going for. Authentics don't cover a lot of your ankle so your socks are gonna show if that means anything. I love the look of both but old skools are my go-to
