Considering that but covering it up would be about 1/4 of the price even for a good artist, and I feel like I'd just get more tattoos in that area anyway.

Pretty hard to do tattoos on wrists, anon. they'll usually have to wrap or will alter and look really bad. you move your wrist a lot so the skin will stretch or the tattoo won't stay how you like it. i'd go for your forearm if possible. Also wrists are the most painful place to get them for sure.

someone also brought up that tattooing technology has advanced. does this mean that a black ink tattoo done by a professional would give you decades of enjoyment?

i have considered getting a detailed piece (black ink, about 8-10 inches) on my leg. i am a pants sort of person so i can cover it whenever i like (what kind of job that cares about tattoos makes you wear shorts?) however, i do wonder how it will hold up over time

I believe Ink technology especially has progressed to the point where a tattoo done now will look much better at 65 than the 40-year-old ones you see today. The city probably took around six-eight hours total. We broke it up so it was fully lined and shaded later. Personally I don't see the value in all day sittings unless you're travelling to get something large.

It does depend on how fast your guy works, but at a guess from all my experiences you'd probably be looking at around the same, maybe slightly more. 8-10 hours if it's going on a half back. Might struggle to get all the detail in there, what's stopping you taking the whole back?

Thanks man, it's been a far-fetched fantasy but now I might actually look into some more. I'm sure taking the whole back would look cool, but I'm more into the idea of having a smaller, more concentrated tattoo, with a lot of symbolism and shit going on.
