It's not a question of if he's effay, it's why is he so that we can all ride the wave once more

by being an original
>>

just watched the noisey documentary about him and the earth on youtube.

maybe I'm stupid but I can't take this whole personality cult about him seriously. I just know that if I was him I'd probably do it the same way. I don't even know if his influence on rap music was so big since I'm white and no expert on that either. Like they were talking about him like was old already.
>>
>>12599872
You realize that Lil B's following is almost entirely ironic, right? No one legitimately thinks he's contributed anything to hip-hop, but he has a pretty funny, original personality, and the fact that he isn't afraid to be himself in a genre like hip-hop where artists are expected to fit a certain image is attractive.
>>
>>12599882
>You realize that Lil B's following is almost entirely ironic, right?

I kinda was realizing that. But you know, since there is so much random bullshit on the internet thrown at you (like Lil B memes), especially from 4chan, I simply never bothered looking into who this guy even is because I don't even care. today I was just bored and so I watched the video.

>and the fact that he isn't afraid to be himself in a genre like hip-hop where artists are expected to fit a certain image is attractive.

that's good. I can appreciate that unironically.
>>
>>12599882
Of course his following is ironic, but I would say he's contributed a great deal to hip-hop
>>
>>12599965
>>12599899
Lil B is unironically a good rapper
>>
>>12599965
This. Him and Soulja Boy are the fathers of meme rappers

Nothing is bait-y about either post
>>
>>12600048
neither is bait

a ton of modern rap spawned from lil b and soulja boy

also, lil b has a shitton of music. some of it is actually good
>>
>>12600064
>>12600100
Elaborate then, you fucking idiots. What did Lil B contribute whatsoever to the state of modern rap?
>>
>>12600108
a lot of the absurd, mindless bars were popularized by lil b. rapping about nothing with a cloudy beat behind it.

>>12600108
read this too

>What did Lil B contribute
Probably the most characteristic thing about modern rap today: the excessive usage of ad libs. Also what the other anon mentioned. Just listen to Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi, Young Thug, Ugly God, etc. They wouldnt exist without Lil B and Soulja Boy. Even Lil Yachty and Ugly God gave credit to Lil B for their sound.

>>12600108
Paved the way for internet rappers

>rapping about nothing with a cloudy beat behind it.

So Lil B contributed to hip-hop the same way AIDS contributed to sex?
>>
>>12600108
memes, incessant repetition, stream of consciousnesses-style rapping, releasing a million mixtapes, but most notably self-acceptance and bringing "weird rappers" and joke lines to the mainstream. Many hot rappers right now grew up with Lil B and the rap culture he's involved in. His and Soulja Boy's influence is blatantly obvious in Odd Future, Yung Lean, even Future and Lil Yachty.

>>12600146
sorry you feel the need for music to be "deep" for it to be good

lil b made lyrics unimportant and popularized rap strictly as a flow experiment.

also, cloud rap is way more inventive than, say, trap.
>>
>>12600108
Lil B essentially made cloud rap a thing, and birthed that style even before he linked with Clams Casino, which became absolutely huge around 2012. People like ASAP Rocky and Yung Lean owe a lot of their style to him, because I'm God was the cornerstone of cloud rap.

Lil B's nonsensical, stream-of-consciousness flow and overuse of adlibs have become very popular recently, and a lot of the new SoundCloud rap generation has adopted it. Trends like one-word repeated hooks and loud adlibs originated from Lil B. Guys like Carti or Lil Pump owe a lot of their lyrical style to Lil B (D Rose is basically just a cut/paste Lil B track).

Furthermore, Lil B's influence exists in fashion and attitude as well. Young Thug got attention for wearing a dress, but Lil B had already done that years prior. Lil Yachty markets himself as a positive, friendly figure, but Lil B has been living that since he started. Ugly God raps with an absurd, nonsequiter sense of humor, but Lil B already did it. He paved the way for the entire generation of weirdos in rap. He was also one of the first to come up entirely off internet success, which gave way to the entire SoundCloud rap scene. He's arguably the most influential hip-hop figure in the internet age of today.
>>
>>12598365
Honestly, the guy just can't help it - it's just who he is. He's really not worthy of either praise or blame for it, because it's not even something he can necessarily control. The same way Barron Trump is effay, in kind of a Damien Thorn sort of way, Lil B is just who he is.

If Lil B didn't exist people wouldn't have taken so kindly to Odd Future right off the bat. Without Odd Future, which set a certain precedent, there would be no XXXTentacion, Ugly God, or Brockhampton, and countless other artist(s)/groups.

Lil B is everything.

we would not have internet rap without lil b. the "soundcloud rapper" meme would not exist without lil b. he pioneered releasing massive amounts of music on the internet. his one liners are why we have the ridiculous one liners today. he changed the ad libs game. for example, in his song Flex 36 he's yelling "martha stewart" in the background and it doesn't make sense but it was years before any of that shit was mainstream, and he's the reason why it is now. his music is satire and that's the thing that normies and idiots can't understand. look at Lil B as a whole as satire and he is a brilliant artist who sticks to character and *while in character* has managed to push his sound into the mainstream and spawn artists that aren't satirical out of his sound as a result. he's incredible.
