going to buy my first suit tomorrow.

what are the big things to avoid when buying?

no I can't afford to get it tailored.
>>
Sleeves and trousers can be hemmed on the cheap
Shoulders, the collar and the jacket's waist cannot be fixed, don't buy unless all 3 are perfect
When you think you've found your size, try one smaller, it's usually the correct one
If you button the jacket and there's an X wrinkle around the button, it's too tight, buy bigger. If there's no X wrinkle, keep trying smaller sizes until you find the right one.
If the collar has a gap, it's too big.
If the shoulders are fucked, it's all fucked. Buy the shoulder size right.

After you buy it, hem the trousers so they lightly touch your shoes and then do like a half wrinkle.
And hem the sleeves so about 1cm of shirt is showing with your arms at rest. Ask the tailor he knows better.
>>
How can you not afford to get it tailored? its cheap as fuck
>>
Starve yourself until you can afford a tailor

this. dont buy a cheap suit either. the people who matter are the people who notice
>>
>>12591975
What is considered cheap
>>
>>12591945
maybe by "afford" he means more time than money, like he has to have the suit in two days for a job?
>>
>>12591979
Cheap/expensive means also quality of fabric, cuts, sewing, not only final price, shitty suits may cost a lot too
>>
get an alan flusser suit. double breasted wool suit is preffered, get a dotted silk valentino couture tie with it. shoes should be crocodile loafers from a. testoni. shirt should be your choice
>>
>>12591846
What is your budget?
>>
>>12592147
$200 - $300
>>
>>12592152
if you live in a third-second world country just get a custom made one.
if you live in a first world country youre gonna have a bad time
>>
>>12592152
What's the occasion?
>>
>>12592157

It's for a wedding, but I want it to be versatile enough to be worn for any formal occasion.
>>
>>12593339
It should be a charcoal suit then.

Charcoal is acceptable at weddings, funerals, job interviews, everything.
Dark navy is also acceptable everywhere but not so much at funerals.
>>
>>12592152
Lmao my shoe budget alone is 2x that
