They inevitably fall into the same category as The Driver's scorpion jacket and Luke's yellow ceremonial jacket- kind of cool in their original context, but are impossible to pull off outside of that

Not sure if I agree, although I can see why you'd think that. Those two jackets that you mentioned never had any legs to stand on in the first place. In the case of the Driver jacket was always going to be associated with desperate loners who wanted to come off as chadcore.
