OP here, heard of trends? The shoes are the same, sure, but the clothes worn with them arent. As trends in fashion change, basic shoes of certain types surge in popularity. Vans, for example: such a wide variety of colorways, collaborations, and celebrity adornment. Do you think those are because they "never went out of style" or they did? What about Stan Smiths? Timbs? It's like you're ignoring any societal role in style.
