I'm all in for the "vintage"-look people strive towards, but I would have liked to get it without having to get them repaired for ACTUAL HOLES IN THE LEATHER. After just months of wear, that is. This was a brand new pair, not a thrift-shop find that has been passed around for years.

But Docs are just too good looking for me throw these away. Would a pair of greasy-leather 11i-Solovairs in black (140€) be a decent replacement in the future? If they last even a tad longer, that is. I do oil and polish my boots regularly.

I really can't say, haven't owned a pair of Mk.IIs, but knowing Varusteleka, they are solid as fuck as well, it's not really like them to offer shit products, as far as I'm aware all of their own brand stuff is high quality for really cheap price point so probably the Mk.II are very good as well, just not as good as the OGs were.

Yeah, as far as the site says they moved the production of the Mk. II-boots to the same factory (Foxberg) in Estonia, the same factory that manufacturers the oft-recommended Norwegian M77's, so I presume that they're as good as some repro-boots go. I'd go with the M77's, but the Mk. II looks a lot nicer to me (and fits my style better) and I hate those lace hook-things instead of the standard, round eyelets.

Probably easier to pull off in OK/TX but I used to wear converse with my OD M-65. Now I switched to a smaller M-65 that doesn't fit like a damn trench and wear cowboy boots with it now that I'm at a less urban school. Sometimes if I want to wear a costume I'll put on a button-up shirt.

Blundstones are fucking awesome. They're sorta everywhere here in Toronto, but for a reason. They look awesome with black denim tucked into them, or with regular jeans, or chinos, or any combination. Rugged as hell, too. If you get the rustic brown ones, get yourself a quality beeswax sealer - it's one of the only things I've found that keeps the distressed leather look without darkening it to shit like dubbin or mink oil would.
