I bought natural latex in a store, melted it, added synthetic powder dye, and dipped the shoes. You just need some water protection/hardener on it, too.

I know I'm probably in the minority but to me its a nice throwback to when I was younger and would wear shoes without caring what brand they were. I remember being in middle school PE and a girl asked me (in a nice way) why I wore those types of shoes when she knew my family wasn't poor. Honestly, I really dig the way it looks like those Skechers-type shoes but still has nice detailing. I wouldn't buy these retail, but if I could get them in good condition secondhand I think I'd be able to appreciate them.

if you buy shoe with long shaft, be it sneaker or boot that's high end, you literally can not put them on without the zip, most of the time the leather is too thick and the tongues are sewn to the shoe for better weather protection
